Lately, I’ve been talking to LITERALLY everyone about signs, god winks, pings, noticing the same word or number always. I believe we can ask for help and receive it in ways that are subtle, wild, and uniquely personal.
Over 40, when life starts throwing shit sandys are way—a sick parent, a Divorce, kid school issues, we need signs.
Maybe like me, you started out as a kid attending church and now, between kids’ sports, work, exhaustion and disgust with organized religion, you need a new way to connect to god and universal light. I know I left the Catholic Church when the priests were convicted and my mom’s Cancer made no sense. I went full-boar scientist for a few years.
In California, it’s hard to avoid spiritual practices. The hikes in the Marin headlands, especially Muir woods were always quietly comforting, my heaven on earth. The woods were a perfect spot to feel my version of God.
Things I noticed early on in my re-connection to the Universe when I started to need a bigger sign:
I am mesmerized by the light through tree limbs.
My heart softens looking at dancing water or tides shifting.
Soft breezes and friendly strangers help me find calm.
Butterflies and candles are specific signs, always have been.
Colors have special meaning, give me all the navy and orange to calm me down.
Songs played on repeat at my grandfather’s funeral and drives between the funeral home and cemetery, so I always listen closely.
Some call it divine guidance. Others call it magic, universal life force, or answered prayer.
No matter your language, there’s something deeply comforting about recognizing that you’re not doing life alone.
God is the ultimately our universal Father, stepping in to make sure you know the traumas can be release, the good can come forward and you are supported.
What counts as a “sign”?
Signs don’t always appear in the way I would expect. They can show up for me and my clients as:
Repeating numbers (for me, it’s always 24, 11:24, 204, 42, …) – overall comfort, “I got you.”
Rainbows in my car and home – connect me to one specific dog and my dog Milly.
An unexpected animal crossing your path on socials, a walk or car- a pause to look up the meaning of an eagle, heron or turtle or sting ray. There are too many deer here to worry about those.
A letter, image, or phrase that stands out on a car, bumper sticker- this is always a guide who keeps things light and funny. “Nods head” when I see it.
Orbs of light in photos, your phone or in a window -this is advanced IMO and focuses on what’s next for you.
Lyrics that answer the exact question you were holding – music is a vibration, long before singing bowls, people drummed and sang to release negative energy.
These signs don’t come from trying to force Clarity. They often arrive when I zone out while walking, driving, washing dishes, or talking with someone I deeply trust as big time reminders there is a bigger force helping, not hurting us, even in hard times.
But here’s the big universal ‘sign-shift’ that changed everything for me:
Stop asking: “Am I on the right path?”
That question is too big and vague. It keeps us swirling looking for God to show up and she’s trying. Yes, I’m seeing God as feminine moon energy right now.
The universe — or God, or your higher self — wants to help, but clarity comes faster with specificity.
This is how I work with clients to strengthen the intuitive muscle. This is how I co-create with the universe to conspire for greatness.
Ask for this level of specificity instead:
“If I should attend the conference in May, show me my number (24) today.”
“If I should reconnect with this former colleague, let me see the first letter of their name this weekend.”
“If this offering is aligned, bring me 3 or more blue butterflies today.”
“If I need to rest before launching this idea, show me a stoplight turning red just before I pass.”
No Sign = Still an Answer
If the sign doesn’t show up? That’s your clarity.
No sign = not aligned (at least not yet).
Your guides are listening. Sometimes silence is guidance too.
Acknowledge the Message
When you see the sign, pause. Breathe.
Say thank you. You’re in conversation with something bigger — and you’re being supported.
Stay open, curious, and unattached to how it looks.
Clarity lives in awareness. Let your intuition do the rest.
