A Timeless Gift: Editing a Book of Beauty, Love, and Legacy

There are projects that come along once in a lifetime—projects that not only challenge you professionally but also touch you deeply on a personal level. Editing Carolina’s book, a stunning celebration of traditions, food, and the art of table setting, has been one of those rare and transformative experiences for me. Today, as I reflect on the journey, I feel immense pride in having contributed to a work of such profound beauty and meaning.

The Book: A Life-Long Gift

This book is a life-long gift to offer or be offered. It’s a timeless treasure, woven around values, traditions, food, and the art of the table. Carolina Levie has poured her heart and soul into its pages, sharing her extraordinary journey from her childhood in Colombia to her intensely international life as she moved with her husband and children to the States, Aruba, Cairo, and beyond, before finding fulfilment in Amsterdam surrounded by loved ones.

It’s a book that honours the past, savours the present, and contributes to the future. The story will touch your heart, the recipes will make your mouth water, the traditions will broaden your horizons, and the art of the table will delight your eyes. Every aspect complements the others seamlessly, creating a tapestry of fulfilment and inspiration.

In a frantic world, this book reminds us to pause, to gather around a table with friends and Family, to savour the food we serve, and to bask in the joy of connection. These moments, as Carolina so beautifully illustrates, are the threads that create the rich tapestry of our lives.

The Launch: A Celebration of Love and Connection

At the book launch, I had the privilege of speaking about this incredible project. Standing there, holding the fruit of our three-year journey, was a moment of pure joy. I shared how this book is not ‘just’ about traditions, food, and table setting—it’s about the table as the heart of our homes, a place where love, connection, and dialogue flourish.

I spoke about how Carolina’s journey as a bicultural family, moving across the world, shows how traditions can be both anchors and bridges. Her story is a testament to the power of embracing heritage while remaining open to new cultures and experiences. It’s a message that resonates deeply in today’s fast-paced world, where we often forget to slow down and truly connect with one another.

Working on this book has made me a better person. Carolina’s words, paired with the breathtaking photos of her daughter Michele Levie, radiate beauty, elegance, and love. They capture the essence of her message: that traditions, food, and table setting are doorways to love, connection, and contribution.

My Role: A Privilege and a Joy

As the editor of this book, I had the honour of helping Carolina bring her vision to life. It was a privilege to work with someone so deeply passionate about her message and so committed to sharing it with the world. Editing this book wasn’t just about refining words—it was about understanding the heart behind them, ensuring that every sentence reflected Carolina’s authenticity and love.

This project has inspired me in ways I never expected. It’s made me a more thoughtful mother, a more intentional host, and a more appreciative observer of life’s small, beautiful moments. It’s the kind of book that stays with you, inviting you to return to its pages for inspiration, comfort, and joy.

A Legacy for the Future

Carolina’s book is more than just a collection of stories, recipes, and traditions—it’s a homage to the past, a gift to the present, and a legacy for the future. It’s a reminder that in a world often filled with uncertainty, the simple act of gathering around a table can be a profound act of love and connection.

I’m so proud to have been part of this journey. To Carolina, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful message. And to everyone who picks up this book, I hope it brings you as much joy and inspiration as it has brought me.

Congratulations, Carolina—you did it! And to everyone reading this, do yourself a favour: buy this book, savour it, and let it inspire you to create your own moments of connection and beauty.
