Breaking (Out of) News with Sara Davenport

  1. Breaking (Out of) News with Sara Davenport Kimberly Benoy 32:26

Sara Davenport calls herself a multi-passionate entrepreneur who was a burned out TV news anchor who wanted more and she definitely found it. Despite being an award winning journalist in a Top Ten market, Sara was not happy. She talks about how her mom-one of the first women news anchors in the 70’s-warned her not to get into the industry but of course she did not listen. She talks with Kim about the realities of being a journalist today including taking on more duties for less pay, pitching ideas that may or may not be accepted, trying to write stories on the run, interviewing people, and always being “on” for breaking news to name just a few. The reality of the job is nowhere near the perception of the public especially for women who also have to juggle Family along with such a demanding career.

Sara shares with Kim what she decided to do for “Plan B” and how she is helping others in TV news and more importantly, spending quality time with her four kids. You will be inspired and motivated by this conversation with someone who is so passionate about helping others choose a life and not just a living.
