Build Lasting Happiness with Rob Dubin

  1. Build Lasting Happiness with Rob Dubin Maria T. Finch 34:35

Are you ready to foster lasting feelings of happiness?

Join me for an inspiring conversation with Rob Dubin, an expert in happiness! Rob, his wife and some friends got caught in one of the worst blizzards in Colorado history and had been given up for dead—this was a major news story. They survived! They survived through their optimism and resilience. By focusing on solutions rather than focusing on the dangers, discomfort, etc., they kept their eyes on their number one goal…surviving! Rob and I talk about how to apply this perspective to the everyday kinds of challenges we all face to build both optimism and resilience. “The experience of our lives isn’t what happens to us, it’s how we think about what happens to us. Happy people think differently.” Finding meaning and purpose in your life in as many ways as possible will enhance your feelings of happiness. Join us and learn ways to focus your mind to foster lasting feelings of happiness.

What you’ll learn:

  • When faced with a challenge in life, recognize the problem, but devote most of your time to thinking about solutions.
  • The more times you solve a problem in your life, the more your mind will know that you CAN solve whatever problem is before you. This cultivates both optimism and resilience.
  • One kind of happiness is in the moment, so to feel happiness, you need to be present in the moment and absorb that happiness while it’s there. The more you do this, the happier you will feel.
  • Do your best to suspend judgment of other people, which will help you get better at suspending judgment of yourself, and contribute to feeling happier.
  • You can use curiosity to help you suspend judgment…instead of judging, engage in wonder…I wonder why… this opens your mind to other perspectives about other people and about yourself.
  • Lasting happiness (eudaimonic happiness) comes from finding purpose and meaning in your life. There are many ways you can foster this lasting happiness in your day to day life!
  • And so much more!
