Bloggers venturing out as spring unfolds
It’s been the second coldest April in history here in the Seattle area. And, then, there’s the rain, rain, rain. Even hail at times.
Since I’m a photojournalist, I like to take photos of our state Capitol when the cherry blossoms are blooming. Many years it’s tricky to get a blue sky with the iconic building.
This year, I tried three times to get some good photographs. I sell greeting cards with my photos at the Washington State Legislative Gift Center, so I’m always trying to get new, beautiful photos. One time I went about 6 p.m. and the light was fading with too many shadows.
The photo above was about the best I could do in three attempts so far. The blossoms are probably past their peak now, but I’ll check again on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, my blogger friends are getting out and about as spring unfolds:
Ride hailing
Was it simply a ride? Or a brush with possible death? Carol Cassara of Carol A. Cassara Writer asks that question on her blog in her post, “Best! Ride! Ever!”
Concert seating
Don’t you hate when you try and do something nice, but it takes a dicey turn? This happened when Laurie Stone of Laurie Stone Writes bought two tickets for her husband Randy and her to see the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour at their local music venue. It wasn’t their usual fare, but everything at this theater is good, so they thought what the heck. They got to the concert, gave their tickets, arrived at their seats…to a big problem.
Theater in the city
Meryl Baer of Beach Boomer Bulletin enjoys live theater, and missed the experience during the pandemic. Baer finally got the opportunity to renew her passion, as she tells us in this week’s post “Escape to the City for a Day.”
Saying no
Jennifer Koshak of Unfold and Begin is still going strong in the Blogging A to Z Challenge. Her theme is on motivation and inspiration, and one of her recent posts is “Why Saying No Is Good for You.”
Earth Day Month
April 22 is Earth Day. It’s been celebrated since 1970. The month of April is Earth Day Month. Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com believes it should be honored every day. Olkowski collaborated with a company whose mission is to pick up 1,000,000 pounds of trash and offers tips on what everyone can do to help.

Update: Tuesday’s photo turned out to have a great blue sky. However, the cherry blossoms are fading, unfortunately.
