How To Wear Beige Pants & Not Be Boring
Beige pants are often thought of as a perfect basic. And they are. Yet they can also be considered bland, uninspiring, or downright boring. But in reality, beige is a neutral which can create a perfect canvas for fabulous looks.
That’s why I wanted to showcase how to wear beige pants in ways that are anything but boring.
Quote of the day: “Many people want to change their life, but they are not willing to change their choices, and ultimately this changes nothing.” MJ DeMarco
I’ve heard women talk about feeling invisible once they grow older. The way to counteract that feeling is to be bolder in your clothing style.
And just like the quote, if you aren’t willing to give it a go, you won’t notice any difference.
For our age group, we’ve been assaulted with rules and fashion articles for our entire life. But once you break free from those and embrace the little girl in you who used to mix prints, and wear all the colors and everything else with abandon, you’ll realize how freeing getting dressed can be.
The Fact About Beige Pants
Not all beige pants are created equal.
If you want to look anything but boring, be open to the wide and flowy pants that create a statement.
Yet if that seems too bold, then think about updating the silhouette every couple of years. While I believe you can make any item look fashionable and stylish, it’s nice to have a variety of silhouettes, materials, and forms of the item in your closet.
That doesn’t mean you need 10 different pairs of beige pants, but if you have more than one pair, make sure they are very unique from each other.
Insider tip: Are your beige pants dingy and stained?? If they still fit and are otherwise good, consider to dye them a different color.
We’ve showcased other ways to wear this type of neutral if you want more inspiration. And none of it should be boring.

The three of us used different ideas for how to wear our beige pants yet look anything but boring.
1. Jodie-Pair Beige Pants with Bold Hues
The first rule of avoiding a boring outfit with beige pants is to mix in bold colors. Beige is a neutral, which means it goes with practically anything, so try all of the colors in your closet as an option.
Instead of reaching for more muted shades (unless you’re going for a monochromatic look), try pairing beige pants with vibrant colors instead.
For example:
- Jewel-Tones: All of the jewel tone colors would take beige pants up a notch from boring. If you’re unsure what jewel tone colors are, think saturated greens, golds, and purples
- Brights: Any bright color will contrast fabulously against the beige pants. For example, reds, bright pinks, cobalt blue and Kelly green would be amazing.
- Saturated Neutrals: If you only want to wear neutrals, then consider saturated neutrals. For example, my rust top or even black is a great contrast.
Insider tip: If you’re worried about going too bold, you can always balance things out with some neutral accessories and shoes.
2. Lesley-How to Wear Beige Pants with Textures
Texture is one of the most underrated ways to make any outfit more interesting. With beige pants, you can mix fabrics and textures to bring dimension to your look. Think about pairing different materials to create a visually compelling outfit.
Lesley’s embroidered vest and chunky bead necklace give this outfit a ton of texture. Even her beige shoes have texture on them.
Insider tip: I like to think of texture as a 3-D version of color. Color grabs our attention first, but textural items are a close second because they stick out and can make you want to reach out and touch them.
Some textural ideas:
- Silk & Knitted: Pair beige silk trousers with a chunky knit sweater. The juxtaposition of the smooth silk against the cozy knit creates an elegant yet casual vibe.
- Corduroy: A beige pair of corduroys with a light-wash denim shirt is an easy option.
- Leathers & Suedes: Try a pair of beige woven pants with a faux leather jacket or suede booties. These materials add dimension to your ensemble while keeping modern.
- Faux Fur: The best thing about furry jackets and clothing items is the addition of texture. When you worry that how to wear beige pants will be boring, just throw on a teddy coat.
Mixing textures is an effortless way to make your beige pants feel modern, fresh, and far from boring.
3. Charlotte-Patterned Pieces Give Pizzazz
Charlotte is a perfect example of how to wear beige pants and not be boring. Animal prints add personality and intrigue to beige pants, making them stand out without overwhelming the look. It’s a great example of balancing bold prints with neutral basics.
My mom even incorporated print mixing by wearing a leopard blouse and layering a striped neutral shirt over it.
Other examples of patterns that would be great with beige pants are:
- Striped Tops: A classic striped tee or blouse, vertical or horizontal, will always look fabulous with beige pants.
- Florals & Paisleys: Don’t shy away from feminine prints like florals or paisleys.
- Graphic Print: Bold prints like graphic or artsy prints can take the focus away from your beige pants and create a wonderful place for the eye to rest.
Footwear: From Oxfords to Booties
Believe it or not, your choice of shoes can make or break a beige pants outfit. The right footwear can completely change the feel of your look, and the best part? Beige goes with everything, so you have a world of options.
- Sneakers-Even white sneakers look great with beige. But any color would be a fun addition.
- Flats-Mary Janes and ballet flats are making a comeback and would look amazing.
- Ankle Boots: When the weather cools off, pull out your ankle boots.
- Strappy Heels: You can always add a pair of heels to give those beige pants a dressier vibe.
Insider tip: Adding in a different color of shoes takes the focus off the pants. For instance, my mom’s red shoes get your eye to Travel down her outfit, and don’t they just make you smile?
Accessorize to Change the Focus
Finally, don’t forget how accessories are the frosting on a cupcake, the cherries on a sundae, or as I say, the “Extra” in every outfit.
- Statement Jewelry: If you’re wearing a relatively simple outfit, don’t hesitate to go big with your jewelry. Chunky necklaces, bold earrings, or an armful of bangles can add interest without overwhelming the look.
- Belts: A good belt can be your best friend when it comes to beige pants. Wide or slim belts give structure and define your waistline.
- Scarves: A colorful scarf can do wonders for a beige pants outfit. Remember, you don’t have to tie scarves around your neck only. Throw one on your purse, around your wrist, or use it as a belt.
- Stylish Bags: Your bag can be used as a statement piece to complete the look. Gone are the days when your purse needs to match your shoes. Now your purse can be made to be fun and stand out.
- Eyeglasses: And if everything else fails, make sure your eyeglasses are fun and are bringing the best attention to your face.
