Tip of the Spear, a Veteran Roundtable 08-28-2024

  1. Tip of the Spear, a Veteran Roundtable 08-28-2024 HomeFront Sitrep 1:36:06

The “Tip of The Spear” was born out of a need for a dedicated space where veterans could come together to discuss the pressing issues within their community, as well as hard-hitting global matters that have the potential to impact the world at large. What started as a modest roundtable 18 months ago has since evolved into a robust platform that brings together a diverse array of voices and perspectives, unified by a shared commitment to the veteran community.

The Genesis of The Tip of The Spear

The concept for “The Tip of The Spear” began with the collaboration of four core shows:

The Triple Threat Vet Podcast

HomeFront Sitrep

The MisFitNation

I Am Pitts

These initial shows laid the groundwork for what would become a vital forum for discussing veteran-related issues. From the outset, the focus was on creating a space where veterans could freely express their thoughts, concerns, and solutions to the challenges facing their community. As the roundtable discussions gained momentum, more shows joined the fray, adding to the richness and depth of the conversations.

My name is David Willis, I knew at a very early age that I was going into the military but didn’t know what branch. As I got older and started learning about each branch and quickly figured out that the Marines was the best. I served in the Marine Corps from 97-04. My MOS was 0311(infantry). I went to Paris Island for boot camp after boot camp I was stationed with 2nd blt 8th Marines Golf company. While with 2/8 I went on several deployments to port a prince Haiti, Okinawa, South Korea, Greece, also did two trips to Bridgeport California for cold weather training, I wasn’t going to make a Mediterranean float so I extended and joined 1st blt 8th Marines Bravo company. During my time there we deployed to the Mediterranean and had stops in Spain, Italy, Malta, Africa, and other ports. I got out of the Marines in August of 01, but 9/11 happened and was recalled to go back in where I was stationed with a mobilization support battalion and deployed.
