Mastering 2024: Ditching Resolutions

It’s a new year!
Have you made any resolutions? You know the ones. The ones that say you will be wealthier, happier, healthier?
The ones that say you’re absolutely going to go to the gym this year!
The ones that don’t always work.
I actually don’t do New Year resolutions anymore.
Why you ask?
Because I do New Year feelings instead.
What does THAT mean?
I decide how I want to feel in 2024 and focus on the feeling.
Perhaps you would like to be financially free this year. You want to be able to pay your bills without breaking into a cold sweat right? Or, you want to actually pay ALL your bills and not pick and choose which ones are the most important.
I feel your pain. Been there myself.
So here’s what I do…
Let’s say I want to make $50,000 within the next six months. We can write that down as a goal such as “I made $50,000 by June 2024 or sooner.”
Now you read that goal every day over your morning coffee. Over and over you repeat the phrase.
Do you still believe it? Or are you just reading a sentence?
Instead, let’s pretend that someone just left you $50,000 in their will, or you won the $50,000 in a lottery, or you sold your home and made a profit. Doesn’t matter. The bank calls and says your Money will be available to you in 5 days.
How are you going to FEEL for the next 5 days? Happy? Ecstatic? Are you searching the internet for the things you can finally purchase?
How does it make you feel?
This is what I’m talking about. I’ll think about how happy I would be. I’ll sit there and imagine myself seeing the money in my bank account. I’ll smile and feel the wave of peace flow over me. I’ll smile because I know I’m finally out of survival mode!
That feeling is what I meditate on.
I’ll sit quietly and feel the joy of being free.
So how do you want to feel in 2024?
Whatever it is, just imagine that it’s coming in 5 days. How would you feel for those 5 days while you’re waiting for it to appear?
