I’m seeing more and more red pants in stores and on those who discuss trends. But I know the question comes up about what to wear with red pants. They make a statement, and that’s exactly why they can feel intimidating.
Quote of the day: “Your speed doesn’t matter as long as you are moving forward.” Unknown
While I would normally say that you can pair almost anything with red pants, I thought I’d take a page from my color recipe and give you 2 easy options.
Today, my mom and I are demonstrating both approaches, hoping to prove that red pants can be as versatile as your favorite pair of jeans.

Many women think red pants are only for holidays or special occasions. But red is surprisingly wearable year-round. The key is deciding whether you want your pants to be the star of the show or part of a colorful ensemble.
One of the easiest ways to make your closet work harder is to experiment with different color combinations rather than constantly buying new clothes. That’s exactly what we’re doing here.
If you struggle with putting together different color combinations, may I suggest checking out my color recipe articles:

I found some red pants in case you don’t already have any. One of the widgets is from ThredUp, so they are very budget oriented.

Charlotte paired her red capri pants with a beautiful neutral lace top. If you are unfamiliar with the term neutrals, it applies to the earth tones that go with everything.
They are (including their different shade counterparts): white, brown, grey, black, and navy.
If neutrals seem a bit basic, here are ideas to add more sass to your look.
This is a great formula if you Love classic style or want your red pants to feel approachable and easy to wear.
Neutrals create a sophisticated look and make red pants feel surprisingly versatile.

Details:
–When you have a longer tunic length top, proportionally, it can be helpful to wear a shorter skirt or pants. This is when capris might fit the bill perfectly. (Ideally, for the 2/3 to 1/3 way of thinking, the capris could be shorter, but we need to stop obsessing over perfection.)
–Gold or any metallic footwear is a fabulous neutral for any season.
–These earrings are the type that have interchangeable color stones. My mom has always gravitated towards these types of accessories and has had these for ages.

Now let’s go in the opposite direction.
I paired my red pants with a bright yellow top, a colorful bag strap, red glasses, and accessories that enhance the outfit’s vibrant energy.
These red pants were showcased 2 years ago as they are from a company that creates pieces customized to your measurements.
Red and yellow are naturally energetic together. If you love thinking about the color wheel, red and yellow are both in the warm colorway, making them a match made in heaven.
If it feels like too much color, there are details you can use to pull it all together. For example:
As someone who embraces color, I would go out on a limb to say that any and every color can be paired with red.
The secret is choosing colors that make you smile when you put them on.

Details:
–I “made” the necklace by attaching a pendant to this silver collar necklace with a safety pin. The young waitress who helped us liked it so much that I gifted it to her.
–One of the “bag” charms I added is a silver bead bracelet.
–I wore a grey bralette that picks up the grey from the strap on the back of the top. BTW, I wore this top in 2019 with print pants.

Charlotte and I may have gone in different directions with what to wear with red pants, yet both outfits prove the same point: there isn’t just one right answer.
Whether you gravitate toward Charlotte’s neutral approach or my colorful version, red pants can adapt to your personal style.
