Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23

With the heat that we are having this week, many of my looks have statement earrings as part of the look since necklaces can be too hot. Either that or fun eyeglasses. Do you have a favorite?

You’d love getting my emails if you would enjoy more personal tidbits. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal scenes of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

Saturday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Sat 2
Dress: ColdWater Creek-preloved~~Shoes: Marc Fisher-won in a giveaway~~Glasses: Glasses Shop-use code JODIE35

After seeing the white dresses article in People magazine and sharing the widget in my email (found here), I figured I should pull one of mine out and wear it. This one was given to me by my maid of honor (and my wonderful mom shortened it by taking off the trim, altering the length, and then putting the lace trim back on).

I grabbed one of my self-belts. This is from a pair of pants from over 10 years ago. Do pretty strips of material ever go out of style? Seriously. They could be worn as scarves, placed around a hat’s brim, or tied on a purse for decoration if you don’t want to wear them as a belt.

The sandals you’ve seen time and time again. They are the Marc Fisher brand from last year when I won them in a giveaway. They aren’t the ones I would probably buy because they aren’t what I would consider comfy shoes. But I’ve been surprised at how much I wear them. For days when we aren’t walking a lot.

Insider tip on tying a bow: Ever get frustrated that your bow is wonky when tied normally? I found the secret and made a video of how to do it this way. The secret is you have to practice it many times to remember it.

Sunday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Sunday
Yellow skirt: Elodie-Nordstrom Rack~~Overskirt: Zuri Sculps~~T-shirt: Mott & Bow c/o

This print zutu (like a tutu) is something I received from a PR firm. Not something I would think to buy myself, but I have to admit, it’s crazy fun. I’ve worn it over a white dress and a blue dress in the past, so I tried something different this time.

You’ve seen this yellow skirt transition from summer to fall in the past. I like the idea of a solid white t-shirt with the look, but I think this is the case for a more form fitting one or a bodysuit. This t-shirt poofs out too much for my liking.
I will admit that I like these slub t-shirts from Mott & Bow because they are lighter weight than their original t-shirts.

And since I was channeling my inner diva, I wore these crazy, big earrings that say “Queen” on them. I found them at a woman’s expo, but they are also available on Amazon in a bunch of colors…inexpensive too, AND lightweight.

Monday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Mond
Skirt: Dressbarn-thrifted and fringed~~Shirt: Banana Republic-thriftted~~Sandals: B52-DSW

This may not be my typical color combination for summertime, but I am joining my friend, Mireille, when she showcases black and brown for summer sometime in August. I always think an animal print should be wonderful for any season, so I grabbed this zebra print t-shirt.

The skirt is one that I fringed myself. I even wrote a tutorial on how to do that to your existing midi skirt.

To add some sass to the look, I used a brooch at the waistband and then wore a pair of metallic pink sandals.
Plus my raffia earrings which if you need a pair, there are some great options on Amazon. (I succumbed and recently bought this pair that you’ll see on Thursday.)

Tuesday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Tues 2
Shorts: LOFT~~T-shirt: Old Navy-thrifted~~Sandals: Madden NYC-preloved

I wanted to experiment with some print mixing today, and this t-shirt was shouting to be worn. Normally, I would pair it with something that had yellow in it, but today I decided to push myself a little.

The shorts have been worn many years ago with an embroidered top. And after those photos, I decided to let out the hemline and make them a half inch longer. It may not seem like much, but it feels better.

I know most of you don’t love these sandals (and I wouldn’t say that I love them either) but they give off a vibe. My husband calls it a birth control vibe, LOL. But for me, it gives an industrial or edgy twist.

One side of my hair got pulled back with a barrette because it’s long enough to do that now, yippee!!

Insider scoop: I did end up tucking in my top as well as changing out my sandals. These sandals were hurting my bunion, so I decided to purge them. But I’ll be on the lookout for another pair of edgy sandals.

Wednesday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Wed 2
Pants: Zara-Poshmark ~~ Top: Japna~~ Sandals: Aerosoles-DSW

For some reason, I tend to pair a red print top with these pants like from this post. However, I have worn it with a white top in the past too. I need to experiment and try some other options.

I know when I purchased these pants off Poshmark, I wondered if they were pj pants. But with the zipper in front, I think not.

The top is not new either. I’ve worn it with a yellow skirt in the past when I let my husband choose my outfit.

I kept the shoes neutral and added a hat for a “hipster” vibe.

Thursday-Rob’s Birthday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.21.23 &Raquo; Thurs 1
Dress: Express~~Sneakers: Cariuma ~~Earrings: from Amazon here

You get both of us since it’s Rob’s 63rd birthday.

We went out to a new-to-us restaurant for breakfast to celebrate Rob’s birthday. Since I still wanted to dress up but keep it casual, I wore this flirty dress that I found at Express during the pandemic for $15.

It’s very easy, breezy for our hot weather, and I wore my Cariuma sneakers to give it a more casual vibe.

Insider details: The Cariuma brand is one I discovered this summer after seeing Helen Mirren wearing their sneakers. I was shocked to learn how affordable they are considering the sustainability practices as well as the comfort factor (they have removable insoles that have cush and arch support). The canvas sneakers are only $80 or $90 depending on the style/color you choose.

I had to wear my newest Amazon raffia earrings. They look like balls of yarn and will go with everything.

Thank you
