Finding Dignity in Dressing: Your Stories

At Joe & Bella, we believe clothing should empower, not restrict. Today, we’re sharing stories from our community that remind us why we do what we do.

When Professional Becomes Personal

Ron never expected his professional knowledge as an occupational therapist would be needed in his own Family. When his brother-in-law’s Arthritis progressed to the point where buttoning a shirt became a daily struggle, Ron knew he needed to find a solution that preserved both independence and dignity.

“I’m always looking for accessible clothing that allows people to maintain their dignity and independence,” Ron told us after discovering our Everyday Magnetic Shirt.

Now, his brother-in-law starts each day with a small but meaningful victory – dressing himself in a shirt that looks completely conventional but works with his changing abilities.

The Style She Refused to Surrender

Florence had always taken pride in her appearance. Her wardrobe of tailored pants and elegant tops was part of her identity. When dressing became more challenging, the suggested alternatives felt like surrendering a piece of herself.

“Just because you can no longer easily get in and out of pants shouldn’t mean you’re destined to wear sh*t clothes for the rest of your life,” Florence wrote after finding our Side-Zip Dress Pants.

Today, Florence doesn’t have to choose between practicality and the premium quality she’s always loved. The pants that look identical to her longtime favorites now include two-direction side zippers that make easy and independent dressing possible again – allowing her to maintain her personal style without compromise.

From Tester to Devoted Customer

When Floyd agreed to test our new Magnetic Zip-Up Sweater, he wasn’t expecting much beyond functionality. What arrived was something that exceeded his expectations in every way.

“I even had a few friends asking me if I went shopping at J Crew! The best part is the zipper – you can easily use it with one hand,” Floyd shared. “Crazy great!”

The magnetic closure allows Floyd to zip up easily despite limited dexterity, but what surprised him most was regaining his own sense of style. The premium design with elbow patches and quality fabric has made this his go-to garment for everything from cozy evenings at home to nights out with friends.
