Summer is proof that blue and white outfits are the way to go. Yet that doesn’t mean we all have to wear the color combination in the same way, right?
Quote of the day: “If you choose not to find joy in the snow, you will have less joy in your life but still the same amount of snow.” Unknown
It’s one of the things that I Love most about fashion. The same colors can tell completely different stories depending on how you style them and the types of clothing you choose.
The four of us took the classic blue and white color palette, and each interpreted it with a different personality vibe. From boho to preppy, glam to sporty, you’ll see how blue and white outfits can work for every vibe and every age.

I gave my crew a bunch of options, and I chose from what was remaining. I feel like I can have fun with any style vibe, and while boho is a newer style for me, it makes me smile.
When I think of boho with my blue and white outfit, I was picturing:
-embroidery
-relaxed silhouettes
-head scarf
I thought the ruffle pants were a fabulous boho detail, as well as the print mixing with the embroidery top.
Both have been worn many times before.

Details:
-Since I was mixing prints with my top and pants, I chose cognac sandals and a purse to ground the look.
-But then I decided to add the polka dot scarf as a headscarf for extra sass.
-Notice the 2 tassels hanging off the purse.

Lesley’s outfit proves that preppy style doesn’t have to mean khakis and polo shirts.
When I think of preppy with blue and white outfits, Lesley rocked it with:
-striped shirt
-sweater over the shoulders
-loafers & headband
I love how she is even print mixing with the striped blouse and striped cardigan.

Details:
-Throwing a sweater over your shoulders this way works when the 2 materials are knit or have a bit of texture. If you want to do it with slippery materials, then pinning them may help.
-Headbands don’t have to be a classic item, but I think this one adds that preppy vibe.

Valerie took blue and white in a completely different direction by embracing glamour.
When I think of glam with blue and white outfits, Valerie got it right with:
-elegant textures
-dramatic silhouettes
-statement jewelry
This type of wrap leg jumpsuit always looks glam. Valerie even commented that she’s had this for ages and hasn’t worn it much.
But as I always like to say, if you have cute clothes, you might as well wear them. Don’t save them for the future. The future is now.
Many of us might think that glam style is defined by sequins or sparkle. I think this proves otherwise. Sometimes it’s about creating impact with strong accessories, luxurious fabrics, and confidence.

Details:
-Don’t you LOVE Valerie’s necklace?? In reality, it’s a belt, and these types of belts can do double duty as necklaces, too.
-Many women won’t layer over jumpsuits because of the bathroom issue. For this look, Valerie can easily pull her arms out of the crochet top’s sleeves (keeping it around her neck), making the jumpsuit free.

Charlotte shows how blue and white can easily lean sporty and casual.
When thinking of sporty with blue and white outfits, my mom styled:
-casual bottoms
-comfy footwear
-baseball cap (even though it’s sparkly…it’s still relatively casual because of the shape)
Even though my mom doesn’t LOVE these pants that I had her purchase while thrifting, they really give off a modern feel instead of capris or the polyester pants that I see many older women wearing.
She wore them when we talked about baseball caps, too.
Sporty style is all about comfort and practicality, but that doesn’t mean you have to look sloppy or frumpy.

Details:
-My mom’s obsession with owls continues. This purse is one of those that just makes you smile.
-These glitter sneakers have gotten a ton of wear. Not only do they come across as a neutral and go with everything, but they are comfy to boot.

There are a few reasons I continue to reach for blue and white outfits year after year.
First, they’re timeless. Unlike trend-driven color combinations, blue and white never seem to go out of style.
Second, they flatter almost everyone because there are a ton of different shades of blue. Whether you prefer navy, cobalt, chambray, or pale blue, there’s a hue for you (I’m a poet).
Finally, blue and white act as a great foundation. You can keep it classic with just the 2 colors or add pops of red, yellow, green, pink, or metallics, depending on your mood.

The fun part about style isn’t buying a whole new wardrobe, it’s discovering how the same colors can be styled with different vibes.
And heck, this color combination works just as wonderfully for all the other seasons, too.
Don’t believe me? Then check out some other articles I’ve written:
–Adding yellow
–Colors that go with blue and white
–Blue and white stripes for fall
Our four blue and white outfits show that while the colors are the same, the vibes can be different.
That’s why I always say that you’re the boss of your clothes. The colors are just the starting point; the vibe is entirely up to you.
