For those of you who don’t know, Gary Lucas is an American guitarist, songwriter, and composer who was a member of Captain Beefheart’s band.
Gary formed the band Gods and Monsters in 1989. To date he has released more than 50 albums as a solo artist or band leader in a variety of genres, touring internationally.
Gary has collaborated with artists including Leonard Bernstein, Jeff Buckley, John Cale, Nick Cave and Lou Reed. He has also worked with people like Bryan Ferry, Graham Parker, Iggy Pop, John Sebastian, Patti Smith and Bob Weir.
He’s currently in Australia delivering performances and Masterclasses in guitar and songwriting – classes he occasionally offers at Yale, Columbia and Rutgers University as well as other academic institutions.
Dubbed "The Thinking Man’s Guitar Hero" by The New Yorker, "The world’s most popular avant-rock guitarist" by The Independent (UK), "One of the 100 Greatest Living Guitarists" (Classic Rock), "Legendary Leftfield guitarist" by The Guardian (UK), "Guitarist of 1000 Ideas" by The New York Times, "a true axe God" by Melody Maker, and "One of the five best guitarists in the world" by the national Czech newspaper Lidove Noviny, Gary is a must see act.

In particular, it’s the music of the '60s '70s and '80s that takes me back to my youth and means so much to me.
As a journalist, I’m all about digging deep into the classic hits of our time.
I bring you intimate, warm, fireside chats with the artists who tell us about their lives both then and now.
We learn about what makes them tick, who they are in their professional and private lives and how they went about making the soundtrack to our lives.
