Learn About The Society of Senior Advisors

  1. Learn About The Society of Senior Advisors Christopher MacLellan "The Bow Tie Guy" on the Whole Care Network 31:14

Through the vision of Ed Pitcok, founder of Society of Certified Senior Advisors,  Ed gathered Experts in all facets of Aging, including doctors, attorney, gerontologist, accountants and financial planner.  All shared Ed’s vision; that seniors would benefit from an in-dept, standardized Education from professional who work with seniors. The education program that his group of renowned experts created became the basis for the Certified Senior Advisors (CSA) designation.
Why work with a CSA?  CSA’s are held to a high standard of competency as the society wants only ethical, honest and principal professionals as members. Any professional who wants to become a CSA must first agree to the CSA Code of Professional Responsibility.
Our guest today,  Curtis Petersen, has spent 7 years as a National Accounts Manager with the Society and works directly with national companies and professionals in the senior market navigating the education and certification process.  Through our conversation today with Curtis, not only will we learn of the importance of working with a CSA, we will all learn how to ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver!’

You Might Know Me As The Bow Tie Guy - "Wearing a bow tie is like wearing two smiles."

When people ask me, "why did you create the Whole Care Network"... I always come back to our caregiving experience and how fortunate I was to find resources that helped me and my partner Richard Schiffer manage our caregiving journey. Every caregiver has a story; through our stories, we find validation, resources, and respite to help manage our caregiving day.

We were fortunate to have our story chronicled in a 2015 Pulitzer Prize-nominated 3-part story, “In Sickness and In Health: A Couple’s Final Journey,” which told our journey of caregiving. The story told of the challenges LGBT partners have in dealing with the medical and legal system, but it also told of the love and joy my partner Richard's last years had on our relationship.
