Chair Yoga for Parkinson’s with April Jones – Gentle, Supportive Exercise for People with Parkinson’s and Caregivers.

Movement is one of the most powerful tools for living well with Parkinson’s disease. In this special video series, April Jones of Yoga Central guides you through Chair Yoga for Parkinson’s—a safe, gentle, and uplifting way to support mobility, flexibility, and balance at any stage of Parkinson’s.

Chair yoga is especially helpful for people with Parkinson’s who want to stay active but need low-impact, joint-friendly exercise. Each session includes seated and standing poses using a sturdy chair for support, making it accessible for beginners, older adults, and those with limited mobility.

With April’s warm, encouraging guidance, you’ll learn how these gentle Parkinson’s exercises can:
– Improve balance and stability
– Increase flexibility and range of motion
– Reduce muscle stiffness and joint pain
– Boost circulation, energy, and mood
– Support Mind-Body Connection through breathwork and mindfulness

About April Jones
April is a self‑proclaimed “movement junkie”, studying movement since age 4 when she took her first dance lesson. By 17, she became a professional dancer and at 23, a choreographer and instructor at the University of Michigan. Later, she competed in marathons, triathlons, and mountain biking for two decades. Driven by her passion for biomechanics, anatomy, and injury prevention, April pursued extensive training in anatomy, kinesiology, and yoga—through workshops, retreats, college coursework, and personal research. In 2011, she founded Yoga Central in Southern California, known for its alignment-based yoga, creative sequencing, and deeply personal sensory experiences. Her unique style empowers students to challenge themselves in a safe, welcoming environment.
These classes are ideal for both people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers—offering a shared activity that encourages movement, connection, and emotional well-being.

No prior yoga experience is required—just a comfortable chair and the willingness to move at your own pace.
