Foster Kids and the meaning of home – Sylvana Hickman

  1. Foster Kids and the meaning of home - Sylvana Hickman Claudia Noriega-Bernstein 1:03:52

Sylvana was a foster kid for the 1 st 4 years of her life with her younger brother, with whom she is still in touch. Her older brother was separated from her and she was never able to find him. She was adopted for 10 years to be put out again into the world being a foster kid again.

She learned at an early age that her negative environment was not going to break her spirit, her dreams or goals.

This is a very emotional episode, Sylvana brings us through her journey with so much detail that at times you feel as if you were there with her. What foster kids go through and what home means to them is something so hard to imagine yet so familiar to so many children. The children in foster care feel insecure and lonely and want to be home. Many of them have moms and dads who want them to be home. And many of those moms and dads had survived abuse and spent time in foster care when they were little too.

Have your kleenex box close by. This is going to touch your heart in more ways than you can imagine.
