The Grim-Trumpers Golden Age

In The U.s., Money Talks
In Donald Trump’s world, the rich get richer and everybody else gets screwed. Especially with his tariffs.

by Rick Comfort

WHERE do we start?

How about let’s see about the ‘Golden Age’ Trump keeps referring to?It was actually called the ‘Gilded Age’ and it was a time in late 19th Century when the rich got richer and the poor were worked to death! There were four major Family “industrialist” (Robber Barons): Carnegie, Rockefeller, Morgan & Vanderbilt families. This was a time of rapid industrialization of America, from mid 1870s to the turn of the Century.

Those four families pretty much controlled most of the industrial Growth and politics with their Money and minions, just like the Trump MAGATS are doing now. That’s why Trump loves that time frame so much, the ‘rich’ were IN CHARGE!!

Fast forward to 2020 election and January 6th insurrection, which was Trump’s attempt at changing the Constitution with his bogus Electoral College scheme, and you can see he likes to be “in charge”! But, HE LOST and everyone thought he would go away! But the Courts saved him and he’s back now with more minions who have a plan to take over the government. And one of those efforts would be to eliminate competition politically and financially (from outside USA) and take over everything.

He started with Executive Orders to close federal agencied, take away funds for the poor, layoff workers, bar lawyers from defending selected people, and now impose massive taxes on AMERICANS with IMPORT TARIFFS!

Who Pays?

The Trumpers want you to believe that the seller or foreign government will pay those tariffs. NOT so! The IMPORTER will be the one paying those tariffs, which makes those goods MORE EXPENSIVE to the US consumer.

Tariffs are just like a sales tax. The buyer pays that tax, not the seller. So all those foreign producers who make TV’s, washing machines, computers, clothes, shoes, etc. are NOT PAYING A DIME MORE TO BRING THEIR PRODUCT TO THE US MARKET!

However the US importer of those goods, if they want to sell them in the US, must pay the tariff at time of importing. If a car costs $10,000 to produce in Korea and the US tariff on Korean cars is 30%, the IMPORTER in the US pays $3,000 to the government just to get it off the boat! So that car is now $13,000.

The Korean EXPORTER paid $00, ZERO! That’s how it will be for EVERY imported product, with varying tariff percentages based on the source country. That imported product is now 30% more expensive to US CONSUMERS!

The reverse is true for US EXPORTERS. They ship to other countries and that IMPORTER will pay to bring US products into that country based on the value of the shipment. The US company will pay NOTHING to get their product into that country.

Here’s the Trumpers’ rationale: US companies will start making that same product in the US and sell it for less than the imported one. Sounds like a good plan, right?

Well, there is another issue, corporate greed, which is all powerful and almighty! Profits, profits, profits. So, if a company starts making that same car in the US without tariffs, will the cost to produce it, be the same as in Korea??

I don’t think so! And then the Korean company finds a way to produce it cheaper, and brings it to the US for $8,000, plus the 30%, assigned a new lower cost of $10,400 which is still $2600 LESS THAN THE US VERSION!

WHICH one would the US consumer buy?? Easy answer.

And do we really think those other countries are going to want US goods, that are 40-50% MORE expensive than another countries’ goods?? Of course not.

This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. It all collapses into a worldwide major recession.

Manufacturing is available to every country now. Everyone can make just about anything they want, except FOOD. The US is still the premier food producing country but even that can change. There are no guarantees in life. Our farmers are being subsidized by the government because their products are “tariffed” by foreign countries, making their products too expensive, and is not purchased by those foreign companies.

This is what Trump is doing. He’s NOT lowering costs or inflation. He’s not lowering unemployment, in fact he’s contributing to it!

Time to Fight Back

That’s why we Democrats need to support all of our candidates and keep challenging the MAGATS in the Courts and at the ballot box.

Locally, let’s all get behind our District 7 Congressional Candidate, JOHN VINCENT, and send Russell Fry back to the swamp! Go online to ACT BLUE and donate to your local DEMOCRATS!
