To deflect from their many illegal activities, the Trump administration has been sowing chaos by creating multiple crises, all of their own making. Don’t like the jobs numbers? Fire the person who reported them. Trying to hide what’s in the Epstein files? Declare a “war from within” to attack your own citizens. Inflation got you down? Bomb a few Venezuelan boats, or better yet, shut down the government so the numbers can’t be released.
Whatever the situation, they will create a problem that requires their immediate attention. A sudden “National Emergency” will arise to cause them to further violate our Constitutional rights. It follows the same pattern the administration used during his first term. Manufacture a crisis. Fabricate a solution. Declare you have solved the very crisis you created. Lather, rinse, repeat.
In his first run for the White House, Trump campaigned on a crisis at the Southern border. He called for a “big, beautiful wall that stretched from sea to shining sea”. How would it be paid for? Well, by Mexico, of course!
Once in office, he declared a National Emergency to repel the invasion of illegal immigrants pouring in from the Southern border with their crime, drugs and child trafficking. He said that the only way to stop this invasion was to build his Wall, which would stand as a monument to is greatness.
And would Mexico be paying for it as he promised? Well, not directly, but through increased tariffs and other means.
Then, COVID hit, giving Trump yet another reason to close the border. As the country shut down to lessen the spread of the disease, Trump claimed that COVID was both a hoax and being spread by those illegally entering the country. So, there were further border restrictions. Yet, he also declared that, if we stopped counting the numbers of cases, COVID would magically disappear.
Instead of acknowledging the pandemic, he sought to blame it on those at the Center for Disease Control who were reporting the numbers.
It’s a pattern he continues in his second term. Don’t like the numbers? Blame the messenger.
In our current situation, with unemployment and inflation on the rise and his approval numbers falling, Trump is now trying to divert attention from these negative statistics by forging yet another National Emergency. This one will give him almost dictatorial powers as he claims the nation is at war with itself, and the enemy is those who oppose his overreach. He has stated that he needs to federalize the National Guard in order to clamp down on crime that he says is rampant in predominantly Democratic run cities. And he further declared that “radical left” elements and Antifa were behind this chaos.
Not coincidentally, this ramp up of an increased military presence coincides with ever increasing demands to release the files related to convicted pedophile, and close Trump associate, Jeffrey Epstein.
So now, instead of cries to release the files being front page news, they are pushed aside by the dubious occupation of cities with Democratic mayors. By insisting there was a crisis elsewhere, he deflected from what was once the main topic of discussion.
And where is Congress and the Supreme Court? They seem all too willing to allow tis chaos to continue. With Republicans in control of both houses of Congress and the Supreme Court dominated by Conservative justices, whatever “National Emergency” Trump wants to create, there appears to be no stopping him.
Even though many of those who are questioning his mental stability are reluctant to challenge him, the chaos will continue and he will keep flooding the zone with crisis after crisis.
