If you had asked me a year ago where I thought I’d be right now, I would’ve answered something like this: still working in pharmacy, doing what I’ve always done, and staying comfortably tucked into the familiar. Safe. Predictable. Status quo.
But here I am—about to turn 55—and instead of maintaining what’s known, I’m doing something radically new. I’m moving to Costa Rica. I’m learning Spanish. I’m retiring from pharmacy. And I’m stepping fully into my passion: Coaching women and men in nutrition and wellness full time.
To say it’s a little scary is an understatement. It’s a lot scary.
And yet—it’s also exhilarating. Freeing. Alive.
For many of us, midlife can feel like a crossroads. Society often treats it like a slow winding down. But what if we treated it like a second sunrise? A season of *becoming* instead of retreating?
Over the years, I found myself retreating into comfort zones, leaning more into my introverted nature, playing things safe. It’s so easy to get stuck in what we know, even if it no longer lights us up. Risk feels harder the older we get. But I’ve come to realize that midlife isn’t the time to shrink back. It’s the perfect time to *unstick* ourselves, to get curious again, and to create a life that actually fits who we are now.
So what’s stopping you?
Is it fear? Perfectionism? Guilt? The lie that “it’s too late”?
Here’s the truth:
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to take the next brave step.
Midlife gives us perspective. It gives us strength. We’ve already been through so much—raising families, building careers, navigating heartbreak and healing. We’ve *earned* the right to live boldly. To dream again. To trust ourselves enough to try something new.
Here’s what I’m learning:
👉🏻Reinvention doesn’t require permission.
👉🏻Discomfort is part of Growth.
👉🏻 You can be scared and still move forward.
👉🏻Midlife is not the end of your story—it’s the start of your most powerful chapter.
So whether you’re thinking about switching careers, moving across the world, starting a passion project, or simply showing up for yourself in a new way—go for it. The time is now.
Let’s stop waiting for perfect. Let’s start choosing possible.
Let’s own midlife like the vibrant, resilient, wise women and men we are.
Here’s to reinvention. To risks. And to the adventure ahead.
