Milton: As a Century-Defining Storm Approaches
As Hurricane Milton approaches, poised to become the first major storm to directly impact our beloved Tampa Bay area in over a century (1921), the gravity of this situation cannot be overstated – this is indeed a serious threat to our community. Our thanks to all of you for reaching out with heartfelt words of support – it matters.
While we are blessed to find ourselves currently out of the country and thus physically removed from the immediate danger, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest concerns remain firmly with our extended Tampa Bay family. We’re especially mindful of those we’ve had the privilege to assist in the past, both in preparation for and in the wake of such potentially catastrophic events.
Our hearts are particularly heavy as we think of the most vulnerable among us – the unsheltered members of our community who face this impending disaster with far fewer resources and options for safety. We urge everyone who is able to reach out and offer whatever assistance they can to these individuals and families.
To all our friends, neighbors, and fellow Tampa Bay residents: please heed the warnings of local officials, follow evacuation orders if given, and take every precaution to ensure your safety. Remember, material possessions can be replaced, but lives cannot. And please let us not put our first-responders at risk, by “holding your ground” when evacuation orders are issued.
We stand with you in spirit during this challenging time and look forward to joining in the recovery efforts upon our return. Stay safe, stay strong, and know that the Tampa Bay community has weathered storms before – together, we will get through this one as well.
