We are back this week with the second and final part of my conversation with Aliya Kasabian who at 16 years old found herself living a nightmare when she was sent to Boise Girl’s Academy a place many describe as a cult and even more people accused of preying on girls in the “troubled teen” system. In our concluding conversation we cover:
- Why her parents thought they were “giving her a gift” by sending her there and why they did not pick her up despite her pleas
- The PTSD she suffered and still deals with because of her time in Boise
- Picking up the pieces and what she did after leaving at 17 years old
- Her budding career as a tattoo artist.

I am in admissions and advising by profession where I speak with students every day about their future and goals. I have spent a decade learning peoples life stories and what makes them tick. So, a few years ago I decided to take that passion for people and make a podcast. Through this I have been able to speak with a lot of amazing people. People like Bob Eubanks (The Newlywed Game), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Maddie Musselman (2x Olympic Gold Medalist), Francois Clemmons (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood), and countless others.
