5 Sensational Outfits of Stripes and Prints
After having fun with all different kinds of striped clothing recently, I wanted to showcase how a striped top could be the foundation for 5 sensational outfits of stripes and prints.
On top of that, I incorporated the same basic outfit of a striped t-shirt, white jeans and ivory mules and then incorporated all kinds of different layering.
I hope this gives you a plethora of inspiration.
Quote of the day: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Mahatma Gandhi
I consider a striped top one of those essentials in your closet. Not only is it interesting on its own, it’s a print that combines well with others.
Besides the fact, striped tees come in a variety of shapes, spacing of the stripes, and colors. There is something for everyone.
Insider tip: My striped t-shirt was from H&M over 6 years ago and was only $5. These are also something that can be picked up for a steal at secondhand stores.
This isn’t the first time I’ve showcased different ideas by mixing prints in an outfit. Heck, I even shared failures. But it’s a fun way to make your wardrobe work harder and I hope you check out the other articles too.
Stripes and Polka Dots: T-shirt and Blazer
One easy way to layer your prints is by throwing a blazer or jacket over your striped t-shirt.
What makes my example easy for beginners is the fact that the polka dot blazer is subdued. It’s not easy to notice that it is a print from far away.
Insider tip: If you are a beginner at mixing prints, have one of the prints be a tiny print so it’s not as bold.

Stripes and Prints Texturally: Blouse over T-Shirt
Another fun way to mix prints is to use a textural print like something lacy or sheer. The item is still all one color, but the structure of the piece is not boring.
For this example, I layered a button blouse over my t-shirt. It’s very much like wearing a blazer or jacket over your t-shirt.
Insider tip: All button-ups can be worn this way. Even your shirt dresses can be unbuttoned and worn open over something else. This opens up more possibilities for the button shirts in your closets.
Stripes and Plaid: Cardigan over T-Shirt
Striped and plaid seem very similar. Maybe that’s because plaid has stripes going horizontally AND vertically.
That’s why pairing the two prints together is easy.
This example showcases a long cardigan thrown over the striped t-shirt.
Insider tip: Another beginner trick is to use clothing items that have the same colors in them. There is black in both of these pieces which makes it look intentional.
Wearing Stripes and Graphic Print: Layer a Dress Over the T-Shirt
When you have a sleeveless dress and need more layers, don’t think you always have to put something OVER it. You can always layer under the dress.
This example of print mixing is bold, but considering the dress is busy, I think the striped sleeves make it fun.
Stripes & Floral: Strapless Top over a T-Shirt
Stripes and prints work well with florals as the print piece.
With this outfit, I layered my floral strapless top OVER the striped t-shirt.
Insider tip: Navy and black can look like the same color many times. Pair them together for this idea of stripes and prints.
The proof is that my strapless top is a navy print while the stripes are black.
