I had a call recently with a fellow Hybrid Boomer about a workplace deliverable. After we finished with what he needed, we got into a discussion about our continued contributions in the labor force. Are Hybrid Boomers still relevant in the workplace? After 37 1/2 years in my current career, I still have aspirations to grow to the next level of the career ladder.
Hybrid Boomers are part of the longest-living generation in history, Baby Boomers. I get asked about the “R” word a lot, but I believe that I still have something to offer. As the old saying goes, I’ve still got it!

My experience, Education, and institutional knowledge could benefit the younger generation of workers or any organization. If nothing else, I can help the newer worker get acclimated to the world of business. But more importantly, I am emotionally mature, intelligent, dedicated and dependable, and I have the ability to build strong Relationships because I actually enjoy communicating with others. These are some of the qualities that have been questioned of the generations that come after me.
Further, with the focus on diversity in the workplace having me around is good business sense. The makeup of an organization should reflect the community that it serves. So a mix of old and young workers that mirror the larger community is a positive for any company.
Companies are in business to make Money and my contributions to the workforce is generating income to an organization. Yes, I would say that I am still relevant.
