Practical Yet Stylish: What To Wear To Church In Winter

Life may be more casual in all elements of our day to day, but it’s never a bad thing to get glammed up. Which is what the 3 of us did for what to wear to church in winter.

Quote of the day: “No wise man ever wished to be younger.” Jonathan Swift

I had a lot of insightful comments the last time we talked about what to wear to church. Many women shared our thoughts that we are still traditional in the fact we stay modest and wear something a bit more special than our everyday look.

Yet as others pointed out, church is not a place to judge others and it’s not about the clothing.

When evaluating all of the comments, I found the word “respect” used many, many times.

So I guess the idea of what to wear to church in winter for most of us comes down to looking nice, no matter what that means to you. Or as I used to say to my grandma who tsked all of the younger kids wearing jeans, “At least they are here.”

Wearing intentional outfits is a common theme on this site, whether we are going to a specific event or even just running errands. You can find a boatload of inspiration in many of our past articles.

Charlotte in a Dress-What to Wear to Church in Winter

For what to wear to church in winter, I thought it would be appropriate to showcase the outerwear too. Because for most of us, that’s a huge part of the look.

Since the crew had overnighted for these photos, our wardrobe was more limited than if we had been at home. That’s why you see my mother in her hand-me-down puffer jacket (thank you, Sarah).

Insider tip: In fact, I used this same puffer jacket to show you ways to add “extra” to it. My mom didn’t feel the need to use any of them! LOL.

You will also recognize this outfit from our styling session for what to wear to the ballet. My mom just switched out the white turtleneck for a different white top and she was good to go.
This is always an easy way to pack for Travel especially since you aren’t seeing the same people over and over.

I love how the animal print purse breaks up the large expanse of red and looks very modern.

Nancy Wearing Pants-Winter Church Look

Nancy is one who tends to wear pants more than skirts and dresses, so she styled an outfit with black leggings.

This faux fur vest has been worn many times before on this site, and I love how it adds that je ne sais quoi to the look.

Nancy wore this metallic top under the vest and accessorized with a beautiful statement necklace.

To keep warm, Nancy wore tall black boots with these leggings. The advantage of tall boots besides being warmer is that you can hide a variety of long undies or thick socks under it all.

Insider tip: A small heel on your footwear SEEMS to be more dressy but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t wear flat boots.

Jodie in a Maxi Skirt-Church Outfit But Make it Fun

You’ll recognize this skirt from our ballet outfits. Because we were traveling, you’ll notice that I continued the bright pink theme with the skirt but this time only with my footwear and accessories.

For my top half, I tried to incorporate a bit of edginess with this studded sheer top over a keyhole turtleneck.

And this red coat was featured years before. It used to be my mother’s coat and is considered vintage.

If you worry about pairing the color red with pink, then worry no longer. Pink is precisely a different shade of red, so it’s perfectly acceptable to pair the two together.
