What’s Your Expiry Date?

Have you ever wondered if there’s an expiry date for our lives?

In the podcast, “What’s My Expiry Date?”, I dove into the societal expectations for women as we age, and challenged the idea of a predetermined decline after Retirement.

I share my personal journey of self-discovery, reflecting on my attempt at the leisure Lifestyle, and embracing my life’s “Encore.”

👵 Reflections on Stereotypes and Expectations

As I reminisced on my past, I realized how deeply ingrained the stereotype was that as women reach a certain age, we become unnecessary and unimpactful to society. Growing up, I too was guilty of judging older women based on these preconceived notions without recognizing their true value and worth.

💡 The Pursuit of Meaning in Retirement

After selling my business, I bought into the idea of a leisurely life, thinking it was the ultimate reward for a lifetime of hard work. However, I soon discovered that simply relaxing and enjoying the fruits of my labor did not bring the fulfillment I had hoped for. It led me on a journey of self-reflection, questioning my identity, and seeking a greater purpose beyond the traditional milestones.

🧭 Navigating the Unknown

The transition from a well-defined life to an uncertain future was emotional and challenging. I realized that to truly embrace my life’s “Encore,” I needed to ask myself a fundamental question: “Who Am I Now?” It wasn’t easy to let go of past identities and embrace the unknown, but I knew it was necessary to find my authentic self.

🗣️ Conversations on Encore

Throughout this journey, I’ve had the privilege of engaging in conversations with other women who find themselves at a similar crossroads. We all shared the same realization – life doesn’t end after retirement. Instead, it opens up a new chapter of self-discovery, Growth, and purpose.

📚 The Unwritten Sequel

I authored a book titled “Who Am I Now? Feminine Wisdom – Unmasked and Uncensored”, where I chronicled my journey up to the age of 65. However, I now find myself stepping into the unwritten sequel, exploring what comes next in my life, and determining how I want to shape my future.

❤️ Embracing My Life’s Encore

I’m learning to embrace my life’s “Encore” with a sense of empowerment and excitement. I have the freedom to take on new challenges, learn new skills, and make a positive impact on the world around me.
