Since I’m usually up late at night, I’ve come to love Stephen Colbert … and James Corden. Corden and his “The Late Late Show” team made me laugh.

I truly thought Corden was funny. He was enthusiastic and upbeat, even during the pandemic. I looked forward to his show, as well as Colbert’s, to lighten up my life.

I loved his “Carpool Karaoke,” the dates he arranged for staff members with audience members, and the program with Paul McCartney where they toured and sang in famous Beatles spots in London.

Not my favorites were his “Dogs in Sunglasses,” “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” where you answer a tough question or have to eat something terrible, and “Crosswalk the Musical” that featured a snippet from a musical before traffic could interrupt.

While his “James Wanna See It,” where Corden would be the only one who could decide if a clip shown on the screen could be viewed, was funny the first dozen times, it got old quickly.

Corden had many famous guests on his last week of shows: Tom Cruise, Harry Styles, and Will Ferrell. Adel was his last “Carpool Karaoke” guest.

The other late-night hosts – Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Fallon plus David Letterman and Trevor Noah cameos – appeared in a sketch and joked about Corden always singing and dancing. They talked about dividing up his assets, but all they wanted was “Carpool Karaoke.”

As Corden thanked his crew and choked up as he said his goodbyes, he added that it was “unfathomable” that CBS took a chance on him in the first place, and that he hoped that his show served as “just a little bit of light and levity” for viewers, according to a Washington Post article.

Corden said on his shows he wanted to go back home to England and that people, his parents probably, were getting older.

So, goodbye James Corden. I thought you were much funnier than the last guy, Craig Ferguson, and I hope they find a replacement that will be able to bring me some laughter and joy, too.
