Daily Looks: Week Ending 4.28.23
With the weather warming up, I tend to reach for my skirts and dresses more than anything. But the days we see the chiropractor is when the pants or shorts come out.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
This is one of the dresses that are perfect for spring and fall because it’s sweater material which means it is WAY too hot for summer here in Arizona. But I love the fit and flare shape, and I thought I’d stick with all blues today.
I layered a striped jean jacket over it that I found at Just Be Youtiful. The best part of the jacket is a fabulous photo of a succulent on the back, and it’s super stretchy.
I wore turquoise cross earrings from Sally Hoffman Designs (who is redesigning her store but feel free to sign up to get emails) and then my gorgeous cross necklace from Maison de Camille who generously offers a discount with code Jodie20.
These mules from last year’s collection from Vivaia are easy to wear and easy to walk in. Code Jodie for a discount.
Sunday
We are meeting a blogger friend who is in town from Chicago for brunch today, so this is what I put together. I will admit that I struggled with this look because the first white shirt I tried needed an alteration and it was too busy.
I ended up with a plain white t-shirt so the focus is on the embroidered skirt. This white tee is from Mott & Bow, and I consider it a perfect basic. It’s not see-through, the v-neck is not too deep and the sleeves are a great length. It’s half cotton and half modal so it’s soft yet not wrinkly. I would say it’s true to size as this is Small. They run $35, but the company does offer some bundling discounts if it’s something you need in quantity (or share with a friend).
This skirt is so pretty. I purchased one of the Fashom Mystery Boxes which is 5 pieces for only $50 (through my link). If you are willing to take a chance, it’s quite the deal. Sure, some pieces may not work for you, but if 2 or 3 do, then you’ve scored!!
I wore it for a winter wedding in December, and Rob and I were voted the most fashionable guests!! At that event, I paired it with a hot pink sweater and white faux fur vest.
I opted for my white Adidas sneakers (you can find a great selection at DSW) to keep it more casual and modern.
Then I wore my “girl” necklace from Just Be Youtiful. She has a ton of these in different colors and styles. Just reach out to her and she can get you one or two. Use code Jtouch15 for a discount (the discount code also helps her to know who sent you to her shop).
Monday
I found this green top at Banana Republic when we shopped there in December on my birthday outing. It was only $3 yet the wrong size. But I figured the material was worth $3, so I altered the side seam to come up higher so it wouldn’t be so revealing.
I took the top to Puerto Rico yet never had a chance to wear it. (You can see what both Rob and I wore on that trip). And now it’s warm enough here, so I pulled it out.
Let me just tell you how glad I am to have found breast tape. I still love the strapless bra that I wrote about last summer. But you know me. I’m always researching more options for you especially since that strapless is limited in its sizing (but make sure to check the company’s size chart…it’s different than normal and goes up to 34DDD)
Insider discount: Today I’m wearing Risque Body tape and code Jtouchofstyle gives you 10% off. I’ll be giving an in-depth review soon comparing it to another.
Anyways, I paired this flowy top with cognac print shorts. These are linen shorts and may seem a tad short, but I figured all of the focus is on the top. You can see these shorts paired with a white top last summer.
Then I wore a pair of green sandals I thrifted along with shoulder-scraping earrings made by my friend, Judy, and a wistful of bracelets.
Tuesday
I was sent this pearl-studded strap cami from Fashom this winter, but haven’t worn it until now. It’s one of those where you want to see the straps, so I had to wait until it warmed up. Even today, the morning was chilly, so I used my Glamour Maggie’s magnets to hold the sweater in place and not cover the straps.
Insider discount: All Maggie’s magnets are on Amazon, and use code 15Jodiestyle. The Glamour ones are hard to find so here is the link.
If you get my email, then you heard me talk about how Fashom has their Mystery Box for only $55. With my link, it’s only $50 and you get 5 items for that. They are final sales, but if you make sure to state your sizes with measurements, and tell them exactly what you want and don’t want, it could be a wonderful deal.
These pants are super old. You’ve seen them when I talked about print mixing for beginners.
I wanted to wear this necklace from Katia’s Designs with the turquoise stone, so that’s why I grabbed the turquoise sandals and bracelet. I am an ambassador for Katia’s necklaces because I love how they use a lobster clasp so I can switch the lengths easily. I don’t love some of the words she’s been using lately on some of her jewelry, but there are still many that are “clean”.
Also, these eyeglasses are the most complimented ones I have. They are from the online site, Glasses Shop, and with code Jodie35, I get progressive and transitional glasses for under $200.
Wednesday
This is one of my favorite skirts, now. When I was younger, I would never have worn something so bright and so voluminous. But let me tell you that in the heat of the summer, these kinds of skirts are the way to go.
This skirt is part of a set and I’ve worn the pieces together here, and with a tunic here.
Today, I kept it more casual with one of my Mott & Bow tees. I really like the V-neck tees because the V isn’t too deep and the material is so soft.
I tried to bookend the darker top with my denim-colored mules from Vivaia. If you haven’t heard of the brand Vivaia, they are making shoes out of water bottles. I gave the full scoop in this article.
The solid tee seemed too plain, so I added 2 different multi-colored necklaces. They were too long at first, so I pulled them up in the back and used a clear elastic (found on Amazon) to keep them in place.
Thursday
I was inspired in 2 ways to style this look. One is that Just Be Youtiful has these pants on her website and I had bought them in the store earlier this spring. I love how they are wide which means cool in the hot months, and short enough that I didn’t have to shorten.
After seeing the color combination that Eugenia from our Mag 8 group styled, I used them to recreate her look (only without the blazer).
The top is super old and basically just a T-shirt, yet I have always loved the bright color.
Of course, I had to add a brooch to the waistband which is one of my favorite ways to wear bling pins.

I chose these green crochet mules per Eugenia’s color scheme and just love how they make a statement.
Remember, your shoes DO NOT have to match your outfit. It’s very modern and interesting to have them be a force all their own.
The button bracelet was made by my mom years ago, and the earrings are from Frannie & Elinor (see more of her styles here on Etsy. Mine are the Gold & Silver Mixed Metal Statment Earrings).
Friday
I wanted to wear the matching top to the skirt from Wednesday and found that it paired perfectly with this skirt I purchased from a local designer in Denver. In fact, we worked with Brooks many years ago here, showcasing some of her pieces.
I’ve worn this skirt before with a graphic tee 6 years ago but I’ll admit it’s not one that I pull out often. Yet I think this summer you’ll be seeing it more since the tiered skirts are all the rage and it’s beautiful.
I really was surprised at how the skirt and top really look like they go together. I bet we all have pieces like that in our closets. Another reason it’s good to play around in our wardrobe and try different combinations.
Even though I’m just hanging around the house today, I put on heels as a practice of how to wear them. I feel like if we stop doing something, we can lose the skill.
I kept my necklaces and bracelets delicate and found a pair of clear earrings from Isly.NYC.
