What’s Happening With Boomertech Adventures &Amp; How It Can Help You &Raquo; Boomertech Banner Feat

Yesterday at breakfast in a small cafe in Eastport, ME (the easternmost city in the continental U.S.) a gentleman at an adjacent table was fidgeting with his new smartphone while his tablemates were giving him all sorts of suggestions on how to make it work. Not wanting to intrude on their conversation but wanting to offer some help, I suggested that he watch a YouTube tutorial on his computer and learn how to use his new phone from the tutorial. If his new phone was an iPhone I would have suggested a number of resources that BoomerTECH Adventures have made for our friends and clients with a focus... Continue Reading

How Social Media Shapes Our World View &Raquo; Disruption 250X210 1

Social media certainly has turned out to be a double edged sword. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. are great ways to keep in touch with family and friends, learn new stuff, and be entertained. Yet, it has been weaponized by unscrupulous people who use it to spread disinformation, hateful messages, and discontent. Their purpose might be political power, financial gain, personal fame, or disruption of community norms or the common good. These amplifiers may be home grown or foreign. When we share a meme on Facebook, we really have no way of knowing where or why it was generated or even if it’s... Continue Reading

Inaccuracy In The News–Been Around Forever! &Raquo; Boomertech Banner Feat

“There has been more new error propagated by the press in the last ten years than in an hundred years before 1798…” John Adams (https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/age-old-problem-fake-news-180968945/) 31 BC, Octavian (ruler of the western part of the Roman empire) and Antony (ruler of the eastern portion and Cleopatra’s lover) square off to see who will become the supreme ruler of all of Rome. Octavian works to discredit Antony and Cleopatra by spreading rumors that she is a “foreign sorceress who had unmanned the once-noble Antony.” He also claims that Antony plans to leave... Continue Reading

Unique Approaches For Capturing The Colors Of Autumn &Raquo; Maples 768X1024 1

Fall’s palette of vibrant colors surrounds us at the moment. Does it seem to you that the reds are especially brilliant this year? Evidently, in maple trees, glucose stays around after photosynthesis ends. As the temperatures change, the glucose changes into anthocyanin, a red pigment. Our lack of rain this year is one reason the trees’ colors are bright and eye-catching. Read more about the process of leaves changing colors here. Gorgeous color in the neighborhood! Ninety-nine times out of a hundred we have our phones with us when we go out and about, and therefore we can stop for a minute... Continue Reading

The World Wide Web (www://) is certainly an interesting place full of surprises.  Some of what we find there is not to be trusted. Let me give you an example that strikes close to home. BoomerTECH Adventures Corporate Headquarters While at the BoomerTECH Adventures corporate retreat, I was searching for a link related to BoomerTECH Adventures. Instead, I found replicas of our articles for the Times Record in some dubious places. One of those internet sites was InsightNewz. Below is an image that shows what was on InsightNewz, what was originally published in The Times Record, and the original... Continue Reading
