Peter spent his career in corporate communications in Toronto running agencies handling marketing, advertising, branding, public relations and production of multimedia content, including websites and social media elements. Clients included hundreds of top-ranked businesses of all types and sizes, fromMcDonald’s, Procter & Gamble, Royal Bank, IBM, Coca-Cola, and others, to niche start-ups.
Peter has been a Guest Lecturer on marketing at Centennial College in Toronto and at the Government of Ontario’s Self Employment Assistance Program. He has served on the Boards of several charities, as well as chairing Boards, and provides pro bono marketing expertise to various charities. He also mentors members of his community who seek advice.

On this episode of the Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam invites the author of Why Being Happy Matters, Peter Jennings (not the former news anchor!), onto the show. Following our quotes of the day, Sam and a returning Kai discuss the relationship with the body being an indicator for the relationship with others around us.
Peter shares some stories about his current endeavors in Canada, while also delving into his own history of writing and why he chose the topic of happiness to focus on. Peter’s ideas of human connection and insights into life are profiled, with accounts of people who have suffered tremendous personal losses and yet are still happy and satisfied in their own lives. 37 people around the world were interviewed as subjects for the book, in order to find a universal aspect of what happiness is.
Sam shares a story of a lack of appreciation for our own happiness in the Western world, and how community can create a true bond where material goods may be scarce. Kai asks Peter about the ideal manner in which humans can relate to the idea of happiness, and the relationship between sleeplessness and happiness.
