Steele’s interest in chat GPT led him to write a book about it, using the very technology he was writing about to produce his book. He shares that the book provides a great overview of chat GPT and its latest version, GPT-4, but also delves into the more futuristic possibilities of AI, such as the ability for AI to communicate with aliens. Steele’s assessment of AI is that it is what you make of it. AI has the potential to transform industries and even individual lives, but it can also have negative consequences if not used responsibly.

He shares his experience co-founding a company in influencer marketing technology in 2013, which did a partnership with IBM Watson, a precursor to ChatGPT. The partnership helped the business grow, but it also cost $15 million at the time. Steele notes that with some nuance and tweaking, similar results can now be achieved with much less investment.
Steele concludes that the impact of AI will largely depend on how we use it. We need to approach it with caution and responsibility, considering the potential negative consequences and ethical concerns.
