He served as chief executive of both the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra, and was the artistic director of California’s Ojai Music Festival. He also co-founded the innovative Spring for Music Festival at Carnegie Hall (2011–2014), a groundbreaking platform for North American orchestras.

Now active as a consultant, teacher, and author, Thomas shares insights from his remarkable career in his new book, Always the Music: How a Lifelong Passion Framed a Future for Orchestras.
