Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. On this episode, we talk with Executive Chef and Founder of The Blind Kitchen, Debra Erickson.

Debra lives with retinitis pigmentosa and has very limited vision in one eye. At The Blind Kitchen, she showcases adaptive culinary tools, strategies, and techniques for cooking safely and independently despite vision loss. She was the only blind student in culinary school and later became a Cooking Instructor for the Oregon Commission for the Blind.

Her mission is clear: to empower people with vision loss to cook safely, confidently, and independently. Known for her Clarity in describing adaptive culinary tools and techniques, Debra continues to inspire and teach from her base in Portland. Enjoy this incredible story.
