Carpenter, Author & Musician Trapper Haskins

Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. In this episode, we talk with Carpenter, Author & Musician Trapper Haskins — a storyteller whose life and art span from Memphis to Maine, from boatbuilding to songwriting.

Trapper has worn many hats: carpenter, author, musician, deckhand, and dishwasher. After leaving Memphis over two decades ago, he apprenticed in traditional wooden boatbuilding in Rockland, Maine, before following his craft and curiosity across the U.S. — from New York to New Orleans and the mountains of North Carolina to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula — before returning to Tennessee.

We dive deep into his creative journey, his music, and his book Crooked Old River, exploring how life’s many currents shaped his art and storytelling.

🎧 Enjoy this thoughtful conversation with Trapper Haskins — a modern craftsman whose songs and stories remind us that every scar and splinter tells a story.
