Brooklyn-based Jazz Alto Saxophonist, Composer & Bandleader Connor Sobieri

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Brooklyn-based Jazz Alto Saxophonist, Composer & Bandleader Connor Sobieri. We caught up with this rising jazz talent to talk about his debut single “Love Song” and his growing life in the jazz world.

Recorded just days before graduating from NYU, Love Song features a singable melody inspired by the rock power ballads and psychedelia of the 1970s and 80s, all fused with contemporary jazz influences. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, Connor’s music bridges Jazz, R&B, and Rock, reflecting a modern and emotional sound.

He has performed alongside Alan Ferber, Melissa Aldana, and Linda May Han Oh, graced stages at Dizzy’s Club and Birdland, and continues to push boundaries as the leader of his genre-bending Connor Sobieri Group. We get into his sound, inspirations, and creative journey.
