This prompt, “things I like about myself,” came from the Where Bloggers Live group, and in all reality, this wasn’t an easy one to write.
Quote of the day: “You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.” George Horace Lorimer
If you’re anything like me, you can rattle off your flaws in seconds flat. What you “should” do better, what you wish you’d change, where you think you fall short…that list comes easily.
But when it comes to recognizing the good stuff?
Crickets.
But maybe there is a reason we need to remind ourselves of the things I like about myself. If we don’t take the time to acknowledge our strengths, how are we ever supposed to fully step into them?
The funny thing is that this post is not very different from my reverse bucket list. I guess I should add consistent as one of the things I like about myself, LOL.

Let me clarify, this doesn’t mean I’m always “on.”
In this stage of life, I like to think I’ve learned that rest is as important as busyness.
But when something truly matters to me, I don’t quit.
That persistence carried me through one of the hardest times of my life, which was dental school. It wasn’t easy, and while a couple of my classmates did quit, I didn’t.
And that same determination is what allowed me to build a successful career as a dentist.
I knew nothing about running a business, and I made plenty of mistakes, but I kept learning and asking for help.
It’s funny how we sometimes overlook traits like this because they feel so matter-of-fact. But persistence? It’s powerful.

This one is no surprise if you follow my blog and social media, right?
I don’t Love following fashion rules…now. Sure, I used to think it was the only way. But luckily, I’ve changed my mindset and learned how freeing and fun clothing and style can be.
Whether it’s layering something “the wrong way,” mixing unexpected pieces, or turning a top into something completely different…that creative spark is one of my favorite parts of getting dressed.
I’d like to think that this characteristic spills over into other areas of life, too.
Thinking outside the box isn’t just about clothes. It’s about being willing to see things differently, to try something new, and not be afraid of standing out a little.
Or a lot as the case may be.
Reminds me of the book, Think Again…it’s very eye-opening.

This one has been a journey.
Just ask my husband how excited I was to change over to a digital camera or even digital X-rays at my dental office–sarcasm inserted here.
But now? Now I understand that dragging my feet with change is not a good trait. Granted you don’t want to hop in the water without a life perserver, but change is a constant and bucking it does you no favors.
One example I think about is that I was raised with a very Western medicine mindset. Besides my dental school training, I only knew about traditional doctors and believed everything they said.
Over time, I’ve opened myself up to more Eastern philosophies and holistic approaches. I’ve learned that sometimes the answer isn’t a quick fix, it’s a Lifestyle shift, a mindset change, or simply giving your body what it truly needs.
If you don’t believe me, there are books that I’ve talked about written by doctors themselves, that talk this same talk:
–Blind spots in medicine
–Menopause book
–Best books about aging
It all boils down to the fact that the willingness to evolve is something I’m really proud of. I definitely consider it one of the things I like about myself.
We all know that change can feel uncomfortable. Yet it can also be incredibly liberating.

Writing out the things I like about myself wasn’t the easiest post, and maybe that would be the same for you. However, I challenge you to try it.
We spend so much time trying to improve, fix, and refine ourselves that we forget to pause and appreciate who we already are in the moment.
And no, this isn’t about ignoring Growth or pretending we’re perfect.
Remember, my favorite label for myself is Perfectly Imperfect (that’s a great post that I LOVE reading even today).
Instead, let’s call it balance. A little pat on the back for all we have done so far. We can only do what we know, which is one reason I love to share all kinds of content in my emails to keep learning and growing.
So make sure you join the email Family and get inspiration from many of the links I share.
Insider info: If daily emails are too much, you can opt to just get them on Saturday. I appreciate any support.

Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and hear all about the personal backstories and interesting details? The best part of this group is that I learn something new from everyone’s different perspectives.
And I bet the others will give a great insight into the things they like about themselves.
FYI, we don’t all post at the same time since we all have different schedules and live in different parts of the world.
