You know I Love a good style experiment, and today’s post is all about that vibrant color that doesn’t get enough love. Whether you think of pumpkins, sunsets, or creamsicles, orange can be a standout color in your wardrobe… if you let it.
So my crew today is answering the question of what to wear with an orange top, from basic (which is better than boring) to bold options.
Quote of the day: “Education teaches you to analyze. Entrepreneurship teaches you to create….the trick is to keep learning but to never lose your ability to build.” James Clear
Spoiler alert: Orange is WAY more versatile than you might think. While we are only showcasing 3 options here, I have linked many other outfits at the bottom of this post that we have styled in the past.
For today’s idea of what to wear with an orange top, we each approached orange a little differently. And the big takeaway is that orange can be a color you never knew you loved.
Insider tip: Remember, it can be called coral or rust or a variety of other names, but the name doesn’t matter. What matters is that you have fun styling it.
My emails are my way to share fun and positive content with you from all of the sites I visit during the week. Sure, you also get my free eBook when you sign up, but that’s not the best part.
The best part is you get a daily dose of positive energy.

When in doubt, denim it out! Cathie paired her orange top with classic denim shorts, and I have to say, this combo is timeless for a reason. At this stage in our lives, we realize that denim goes with absolutely anything and everything and isn’t just for casual.
Insider tip: Try different denim washes! A light-wash jean/shorts gives the look a casual, beachy vibe, while dark denim seems more polished. And don’t overlook denim skirts or even chambray pants.

Details:
-Cathie shows how accessories can “dress up” denim in the most delightful way. Multicolored earrings and a multicolored necklace give that “extra” that is so fabulous.
-Vintage straw purse makes a summery statement without looking matchy.

Charlotte’s take was to ground the orange with white flowy pants. For those women out there who prefer to cover their legs but realize that some pants are too warm for summertime, these types of trousers are truly ideal.
My mom wore them as an alternative to shorts…I consider them so perfect that I had to search for others in case you need a pair.
Insider tip: Use orange as your “pop” color and keep everything else soft and subtle. This lets your top shine without overwhelming the rest of the outfit. It’s also a great intro if you’re just dipping your toes into wearing bold colors.

Details:
-My mom has worn this scarf as a belt with a navy maxi dress. This is a wonderful option for skinny scarves, self-belts, or ribbons.
-The decor on the purse was added by Charlotte. She used a glue gun to keep the fabric flowers in place.

Now you may be thinking, “Whoa…that’s a lot of color.” And you’d be right, but as an equal opportunity color lover, I see nothing wrong with wearing 2 bright colors together. Hey, at least I kept my accessories neutral.
But this is the bold version of what to wear with an orange top. And since I’ve accumulated birthdays, I feel like being bold isn’t bad.

Details:
-I’ve transitioned this yellow skirt from summer to fall in the past.
-The brooch at the neckline of the top serves as a chainless necklace.
-My summer bra option for this top was boob tape.
Okay, now that you’ve seen our three favorite ways to wear an orange top, I have to encourage you to dig deeper into your closet. Here are even more color pairings that totally work with orange:
And this is only the tip of the iceberg. Sure, I don’t have a previous article with all of the color combinations, but you can put together a boatload of others that are fun and wonderful.
Basically, what to wear with an orange top is only limited by your imagination, or how much time you give yourself to play in your closet.

I know, I know. Orange can feel like a commitment. But here’s the thing: when you wear it, people notice and in a good way. It brings life to your face and energy to your outfit.
Insider tip: As shown in our examples, the color “orange” has a wide variety of shades and variations. Maybe you like your orange shade more pinky, like my mom’s, or more on the red scale, like mine. And even if you prefer cool colors next to your face, remember you can always wear orange on the bottom half.
Here’s my challenge to you:
Pull out that orange top (or scarf, or pair of shoes) and give it new life.
Try it with something unexpected, a color that you’ve NEVER worn with it in the past.
You might discover a new favorite outfit.
Because sometimes, stepping outside your comfort zone (even in a top) is just the spark your wardrobe needs.
