I was excited to try these Orthofeet slip on walking shoes with arch support. I had heard about this hands free technology for sneakers and I could see the advantage of them for anyone, especially us older folks

Quote of the day: “If something is meant for you, it will not miss you.” Sheryl Lee Ralph

That quote above? If you’re reading this article, then I think this is your sign. These shoes are made for you.

This isn’t the first time I’ve discussed this brand of shoes, Orthofeet. I was recently introduced to their Stroll sneaker and became a huge fan of the ability to individualize the fit of your shoes with removable spacers or insertable arch boosters.

Before I give you the inside scoop behind the brand, Orthofeet, or give you more details about the Nira sneaker, let me explain all about this slip on, hands free concept.

What does Hands Free Mean & Why Do I Need It?

If you haven’t seen other people promoting these kinds of slip on walking shoes with arch support, then you may not realize what I mean by hands free.

The heel of these Nira sneakers are very rigid. This means you can slide your foot in the shoe without having to untie it and then tie the laces back up each time.

This is advantageous for many reasons but especially helpful if you have limited mobility making it hard to bend down.
Heck, for me, I love them because it’s faster and easier. In fact, I rarely untie and tie my sneakers, but I still have to bend down to make sure the heel doesn’t fold in on itself.

Orthofeet as a Brand

If this is your first time hearing about Orthofeet, then let me give you some insider information.

The brand has shoes for both men and women. In fact, one of my readers commented that between her and her husband, they have 6 pairs of Orthofeet.
You know the brand is good, when the husband is a fan too.

The thing that sets Orthofeet apart is how the shoes are made to help a huge variety of foot conditions including bunions, plantar fascitis, and neuromas. You can even filter by the foot issue that you have to find the shoes that will work best for your feet.

Orthofeet is very size inclusive. Most all shoes come in sizes 5-12 and they have a wide variety of widths. If you have a narrow foot, there are plenty of Orthofeet shoes in that sizing. While this particular slip on walking shoe that I’m showcasing isn’t available in narrow, there is a mule sneaker that is. Otherwise, the shoes come in standard, wide and extra wide widths.

Good fitting shoes with the kind of extras provided aren’t inexpensive. However, the brand offers free returns as well as free shipping.

What makes Orthofeet so different is that every purchase includes these spacers to give a snugger fit as well as the arch boosters.
Spacers come in 2 sizes-a 1/8 and a 1/16 and you can use them both if one size isn’t enough.
The arch boosters are meant to be inserted under the insole and provide that extra arch support that can be beneficial-if you need it.

Insider tip: My sneakers felt comfortable enough without the arch booster, but I decided to try it in one sneaker and leave it out of the other side to compare. To my surprise, the side with the arch boosters felt better by the end of the day.
Since they are removable, it can’t hurt to try them and see.

Orthofeet Nira-Slip On Walking Shoes with Arch Support

These Nira slip on walking shoes with arch support come in 3 different colors. I chose the light gray because I recently wore out my other grey sneakers.

There are many other fabulous qualities about these sneakers besides the hands free detail. They are also water repellent with a wide toe box, and they have a stretchable knitted upper.

If you aren’t sure, I suggest you read the reviews. Out of 146 reviews they get a 4.57 stars. I call that the best testimonial ever.

My Personal Review of the Nira Sneakers-Slip on Walking Shoes with Arch Support

Just like with the Orthofeet Stroll sneakers, I was able to take them out of the box and wear them for a full 2 mile dog walk. There is no break in period and their comfort is out of this world.

Because of the patented slip on system, you notice that your ankle feels more secure in the shoe.

You’ll also notice that the shoe has a flexible heel with a spring that allows for easy entry meaning the heel moves down when your foot enters and goes back up when your foot is in which allows for the hands-free factor.

Once you try these slip on walking shoes with arch support, I think you’ll be spoiled for any other sneakers.
