The caution we use comes in all shapes and forms, particularly in the degree we embrace and the individual embracing it. As one who advocates taking calculated risks to advance careers and business, we must weigh all contributory factors upfront before proceeding.

On the other side of the coin is the hard fact that we may be left behind if we do not do our best to understand and embrace new trends, technology, and concepts in their early stages, and prompts today’s question, Do you proceed cautiously?

My Story

Previously, I wrote about automatically accepting online suggestions for improving my writing. Realizing the advice works well, it is now a natural process for me. However, our headline news cautions against the possibility of taking the usage too far.

The issues can be broad and likely include inaccurate information plus potential copyright issues should the generated copy not be researched upfront before acceptance.

The Cure: Do your research upfront before accepting and posting copy suggestions.

Preparation is the Key to Proceeding with Caution

We are only at the beginning stage. The concern is that many people need more time than they typically invest to make a sale or grow their business. Now imagine the same individuals embracing the ChatBots upfront without checking the facts before accepting and publishing the content. It will fare poorly for them.

Social Platform Prospecting and Selling

The differentiator for successful selling is to come to an understanding of the person with whom you meet. While salespeople often hear put-downs for not having the skills to do anything else, successful ones effectively combine multiple back-end strategies before approaching a prospect. Laziness does not work in sales, nor will one utilize ChatGPT or associated methods professionally. More than ever, it is necessary to proceed cautiously.

  • Have you ever considered writing a book?
  • I can teach you how to begin growing your entrepreneurship.
  • I teach people how to communicate well to build relationships with clientele – would you like my help?

It boggles the mind that those making the inquiries do not spend five minutes reviewing a person’s platform profile before sending appropriate questions. And it concerns me further how the same individuals plan on implementing the chat features into their written communications.

Your Story: Do You Proceed Cautiously?

Prospective clientele quickly dismisses the representatives who approach them without doing their homework upfront. The better approach is to initially question yourself as to why your prospect is willing to take the time to meet with you.

Capture your ideas and then commit to the following:

  • Research their company
  • Review strategies of their top three competitors
  • Familiarize yourself with their industry trends
  • Connect how your company may contribute to your prospect’s business growth.

Now that you better understand your prospect’s business, industry, and potential knowledge of where you may offer assistance, approaching the idea of a meeting will be more comfortable and appropriate. Better, you will be more likely to receive an invitation to meet.

The same approach is to continue throughout the entire process and flow of ongoing meetings. It is the only way to establish trust and credibility that leads one to the sale—finally, living up to your promises to earn a returning and referring clientele.

We will all need to take greater care than ever before as we consider the information that reaches us to decipher whether it is accurate. Laziness may get one into challenging circumstances when making an incorrect decision. More than ever, it is vital to proceed cautiously.
