Sneakerinas for Spring: The Chic New Shoe Trend You’ll Want

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: shoes can make or break an outfit. They’re the exclamation point at the end of your sentence. And this spring, that exclamation point just got a whole lot more comfortable and chic.
Enter sneakerinas.
They’re equal parts polished and practical, and I’m completely smitten… which is exactly why I haven’t bought a pair yet. I keep going back and forth between all the gorgeous options. So I figured, I’d ask for your help: which sneakerinas for spring should I choose?

Quote of the day: “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.” Shirley Chisholm

I admit that I was influenced when I received my Evereve catalog, and the back cover displayed Sneakerinas…what a match made in heaven.
Sure, we’ve hopped on the sneaker trend for the last couple of years, but this combination is gold.

Instead of being clunky and hard to style, the sneakerinas for spring seem like your perfect shoe.

Each brand brings a different vibe…sometimes it looks more like a Mary Jane with a sneaker sole, or sometimes it’s just a sleeker sneaker, maybe including satin laces or a cute bow.

I can’t believe that I still haven’t bought a pair yet, but after exploring this trend, I have a handful of top contenders that I thought I’d ask your opinion.

What Is a Sneakerina?

A sneakerina is like a sneaker in ballet shoes’ clothing. It’s the perfect intersection of:

Comfort (because the accumulation of birthdays makes us realize that comfort can be cool)
Polish (because style matters)
Versatility (because all of us want one pair that goes with everything)

Picture a sneaker with a softer profile, sleek lines, delicate details like satin or subtle lace-up finishes, and an overall silhouette that feels refined rather than sporty chunky. These aren’t your gym sneakers…they are so much more.

Why Sneakerinas Are the It Shoe for Spring

1. They Go With EVERYTHING

Sneakerinas for spring are the kind of footwear that can easily be worn with jeans AND dresses without a second thought.

2. Comfort Without Compromise

Most styles feature cushioned insoles, flexible soles, and breathable uppers. You’ll walk block after block and still feel fabulous.

3. Polish + Ease

Gone are the days when comfortable shoes meant ugly and clunky.

We’ve worn sneakers bunches on my site if you want inspiration:
Wide leg pants and sneakers
Colorful sneakers with matching vs non-matching outfits
Dresses and sneakers

Which Sneakerina Should You and I Get?

Now for the fun part. Here are some of the actual sneakerina styles I was checking out. Some are pricier, and some are budget-oriented. I was thinking that these would be one option of footwear I’d be taking on my upcoming river cruise this summer, which is why I was entertaining the high-priced options.

Vivaia Sneakerinas For Spring

1. Square-Toe Lace-Up Satin Sneakerina by Vivaia

I saw my friend, Catherine, talking about these because she works with the company. In fact, she gives the insider scoop that they are lightweight and beautiful. PLUS she has a discount code, Catherine12.

BTW, you can opt for the square OR round toe version, AND they come with 2 options of shoelaces.

I have a couple pair of Vivaia shoes and can attest that they are comfy for my feet. This version has an elasticized heel, which is wonderful for those who have narrow heels.

Puma Ballet Sneakers

2. Puma – Speedcat Ballet Sneaker

If you want a sneakerina that leans a little sporty, the Puma Speedcat Ballet Sneaker is such a fun option.

Originally inspired by racing shoes, the Speedcat has always had that sleek, low-profile silhouette. The ballet version softens it with a slimmer shape and delicate detailing that gives it the fun of sneakerinsa this spring.

This one also comes in red, which might be calling my name.

Fun Details On Sneakers

3. Adidas- Barreda Mary Jane Sneaker

If you Love a little unexpected twist in your outfits, the adidas Barreda Mary Jane Sneaker is such a fun take on the sneakerinas.

Now the style on the Adidas site doesn’t include the textured sides and bow. BUT on their site, you can find the Junior version for less Money (Here is the chart of how to know if you can wear kids’ size shoes).

It keeps that classic Adidas comfort and sporty DNA, but adds the Mary Jane strap detail that instantly softens the look. That little strap changes everything — it gives the shoe a ballet-inspired feel while still grounding your outfit with a sneaker sole.

I love how it keeps the Adidas stripes on the sneaker, and there is a red pair on the Adidas site.

Allbirds Sneakerinas For Spring

4. Everyday Comfort: Allbirds

Allbirds’ Tree Breezers walk the line between sneakers and lightweight casual shoes, giving you easy comfort with a profile that doesn’t overwhelm your outfit.

Since the material is plant-based, they are cooler on your feet. They are also machine washable, after taking out the insoles.
I’d call these more of a casual Mary Jane, but the sole presents as more sneakerish.

Options Of Sneakerinas For Spring

5. Target – Wild Fable

It’s always good to check the Big Box stores for a budget-oriented option, and that’s where I found Target’s Wild Fable line.

Just like the Allbirds, this is more of a Mary Jane with a sneaker sole.

If you’re sneakerina-curious but not ready to splurge, this is such a smart starting point. They only come in 2 colorways, so there is that issue.

Sneakers But Make Them Cute

6. Blowfish Malibu at DSW

DSW always has a great selection of any trend, and the sneakerinas for spring are no exception.

I have a pair of sandals from Blowfish and can attest to their comfort.

This variety has soft uppers and flexible soles that make them incredibly wearable. And I love the yellow color, but there is also a light grey option.

DSW does make it easy. You can always order them to pick up in store, then try them on right away. And if they don’t fit or feel good, just return them right then and there.

Insider tip: Don’t forget to take your purged shoes to donate to DSW, and get points to use on future purchases.

Which Pair Should I Get First?

If you love shopping Anthropolgy, they have quite a selection too. I tend to think their options are pricier, but you never know.

I know I’ll be getting a pair, I just was having the worst time deciding which ones I want.
Knowing me, I won’t get a white or ivory pair because I’m such a color lover, but who knows. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
