General Helpful Tips: Using Shower Curtain with Tub Transfer Bench

🚿 Shower Curtain Hack: Minimize Water on the Floor with a Tub Bench

Using a bathtub transfer bench is a safe way to get in and out of the bathtub, but it often creates a mess and a dangerous situation when shower water splashes out onto the bathroom floor. In this Quick Tip video, Cindy shows how to use an inexpensive shower curtain to decrease the amount of water escaping the tub when using a transfer bench.

The Shower Curtain Modification (Step-by-Step)
(1) The Cut: Cut the shower curtain in a "V" shape. This creates two large side panels and a central flap.

(2) Tub Bench Use (Flap Insertion): The "V" cut allows the user to feed the central flap into the slit in the bench seat.

(3) Water Direction: Encourage the outer panels of the curtain to fall or hang inward around the seat, thereby keeping more of the water inside the tub.

(4) Standard Use (Optional): The "V" cut also allows non-transfer bench users the ability to clip the two bigger pieces of the cut curtain together if they are standing or using a standard bath chair, which helps keep water inside the tub.

Safety Note
(1) Water Control: This hack will not prevent all water from escaping the tub.

(2) Floor Safety: Be sure to place a towel below the tub bench on the outside of the tub to catch any water and to prevent any safety issues arising from a wet floor.
