Hello Care Partners,
Today we will look into the difference between a Neuropsychological and a Neurological evaluation and why it matters to people living with Dementia.
Our Guest, Dr. Timothy Sigward is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame who later completed his doctorate in clinical psychology in 1994 at Saint Louis University. Since being licensed as a psychologist in 1995, he has worked primarily with older adults. In 2003, he helped found and directed the Centers for Interactive Geriatric Assessment, where he provided geriatric and neuropsychological assessments.
In 2016, he formed, with his partner, Babu Gupta, MD, the NeuroPsych Center of Greater Cincinnati. The goal of this Center was to provide comprehensive Mental Health services to older adults. He continues to provide geriatric assessments and neuropsychological evaluations.
Specific areas of focus or expertise include the diagnosis of various forms of dementia and cognitive impairment, behavioral management of dementia, issues surrounding competency, and the functional assessment of older adults.
In this Episode, we will discuss the benefits of a neuropsychological evaluation that go far beyond the diagnosis. Plan to learn ways to prevent or slow down cognitive decline and see what other services are available at the NeuroPsych Center, including their Dementia Support Complete Program.
Plus, Congratulations are in order for The NeuroPsych Center of Greater Cincinnati for being selected to Participate in the Guide Program, where only 400 organizations were selected nationally. https://www.cms.gov/priorities/Innovation/innovation-models/guide
