Daily Looks: Weeks Ending 12.6.24
This is a little longer than most because it includes more than just 1 week. You get the time before our trip and the time after our trip all in one.
I think you would enjoy signing up for the emails below. In addition to the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits about what’s going on in my life, along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
We were making content for a local holiday pop-up, so I dressed the part. I thrifted this sweater when I was working, and it was always my go-to during the holidays. But I wanted to spruce it up, so I added 3 silver/sparkly brooches to the fur trim and then wore this statement necklace.
Insider tip: Here is the necklace on a blue sweater and then on a white sweater. The chain is short so I had to use a bracelet to extend it to be longer.
I also wore my silver pleated skirt and my sequin booties.
My favorite part of the look is the bow in the back of my hair (top photo). I cut a sequin infinity scarf in half to make a bow, then wrapped it around a silver barrette.
Sunday
Many of the glitter items for the holidays aren’t as good with my complexion, which is why I snatched up this top at Just Be Youtiful (besides the fact that it says SMILE).
The color is this rust orange with gold running through it that gives me a glow.
Insider tip: I used a hair elastic to knot the extra material of the top. It was wonky when I tried to tuck it in and if we weren’t sitting in church for an hour, I would have knotted and tucked it in the back. That’s why it’s good to have a bunch of different tricks up your sleeve so you can consider the situation as well as how it looks.
I paired the top with this fabulous bubble skirt that I thrifted for a subject about special occasion items secondhand. It’s from Anthro and is this heavy-weight material. The thing is that because it sticks out away from my body, I can wear it during the summer too.
The skirt is bulky so I opted for chunky boots, plus the colors worked great together.
Monday
I pulled out this skirt to wear with yesterday’s shirt, but it didn’t look right. I think because the skirt is so heavy, it didn’t seem right with the lighter-weight top. It’s one reason that I wore it with the bulky sweater today.
In fact, when I first combined the items, it didn’t look right. It needed some “styling” which I showcased on TT in this video, to end up with this result.
Insider tip: Showing skin is a style trick and can be helpful so you aren’t overwhelmed by your clothing.
This skirt was made by my mom years ago. It’s a bunch of pieces of leather sewn together and it is very soft and heavy.
I added thrifted sneakers and yellow earrings.
Tuesday
I put this together around the booties. Aren’t they just amazing? They are from a new online shoe site that is for discontinued shoes. And I can’t wait to share it with you…soon.
We are off to Tai Chi so I’ll switch to sneakers before we go.
I wore these age-old leggings, a striped blouse (worn this summer when watching grandkids), and this jacket from Draper & Damons. The jacket looks much better with my leggings than with their pants which were way too big for me.
Styling the blouse, I buttoned the first button as normal but then exchanged the button with the second buttonhole and vice versa to create a ruched look.
I decorated the jacket with 2 brooches and a necklace snaking between them. It’s hard to see in this photo, but if you get my email, you saw an up-close photo.
A Maggie’s Magnet is holding the jacket together adding more decor.
Monday
We made it home last night and one of my clothing rental boxes was waiting for me thus this long vest. But it’s not really a vest…it’s a mini dress…you can see it here.
I wanted to wear these sheer socks that Nancy found for me and they worked perfectly with this vest.
The weather was warm today so I wore cropped pants (as seen in the past here) along with a polka dot t-shirt and my bright pink Mary Janes.
Also, notice the brooch at the waistline. It’s one of my favorite tricks.
Tuesday
We were taking my stepmom, Nancy to the airport this morning, so no Tai Chi class. Thus I could wear one of the skirts that came in my clothing rental box.
Insider tip: You still have the opportunity for FREE for a 30-day trial for Your Revolving Closet. I’m utterly convinced it’s a great way to try clothing you wouldn’t normally buy…and it’s free!!
I wore this wrap sweater (which can also be worn with the wrap in the back) over a burgundy t-shirt.
My blue cowboy boots are a winter favorite and I added sparkle blue earrings to the mix.
Wednesday
The weather has been glorious, so I figured it was appropriate to wear shorts. With tall boots that is. These white shorts used to be capris until I cut them off.
I paired them with a sweater that I knitted years ago. There’s a story behind it. A long one. Suffice it to say that I paid $80 for the pattern that was actually free.
I thought it would be fun to pair the white shorts with my tall white cowboy boots.
And I even added a brooch above the snowflake design on the sweater. The beaded earrings were made by Kris, who has even been on the blog before–we worked together to talk about how to wear bright colors.
Friday
Today was supposed to be dog training but it got cancelled at the last minute. I kept the outfit the same except I wore my ankle boots instead of sneakers.
I wanted to wear a couple of my “new” items. Considering that it’s my birthday month, I received a big discount at Banana Republic to use and thus found this silk corset.
Truthfully I would never have thought to purchase something like this except lately I’ve been seeing such cool layering outfits with corsets.
I put this cream silk one over a lace ribbed turtleneck and even added a clip-on earring at the center.
Then these jeans!! Aren’t they SO SO fun? I had some Money for my birthday from my stepmom and used it at Just Be Youtiful on these jeans that are a light green and have crochet patches all over them (even on the back).
These green ankle boots blended in nicely and I wore a hand-knit beanie (originally meant for Rob, but I borrow it occasionally).
Since it’s the holiday season, I also wore my holiday cactus earrings.
