Another episode where I take an image from Pinterest and make the outfit my own. Remember that you don’t have to “copy” a look, but find ways to create a fabulous vibe with what you have in your closet.
For today, I wanted to give older women a way to have fun with scarf top ideas.
Insider tip: This would work just as well in the winter using a turtleneck instead of a t-shirt.
Quote of the day: “Don’t just imagine doing things someday. Do them now. Get out of your head and take action.” James Clear
Here is the inspiration photo that got me thinking about how scarf top ideas can be just as fabulous layered over a t-shirt.

With this in mind, I decided to try 3 ways of folding a scarf to create stylish ways to transform scarf top ideas for us older women.
And then I used these 3 scarf top ideas in 3 different mimicked outfits. Let me know what you think and if you’ll try it.
Insider tip: You do not need to spend a ton of Money on scarves. Here are a bunch under $25, but also look for them at thrift stores.

For a stylish scarf top idea, I’m calling this the triangle fold. Wearing a scarf this way shows off the pattern and print of the scarf much better than other folds.
How to fold it:
Which scarf to use: The bandana fold works perfectly for your square scarves. That’s not to say you can’t use your rectangle scarves. You just have to be more creative with your folding.
Basically, you’ve created a strapless top, but since you are wearing a t-shirt, you have no worries about a strapless bra or exposing too much skin.
For the overall outfit with this scarf top idea, I copied the inspiration’s outfit color of her skirt by wearing my grey pants. I kept the footwear dark and didn’t need a belt since the scarf top hung over my pants.

For a more formed, yet creative twist, this strappy scarf top idea is an easy way to use what you have.
What do I mean?
This scarf top idea is created by covering a bra or swimsuit top.
How to fold it:
Which scarf to use: This strappy scarf top idea works wonderfully with a shorter and thinner rectangle scarf. Another option is a large enough square scarf.
It’s ideal not to have too much material to tuck in and around the bra or swimsuit top.
For this overall outfit, I chose the same type of skirt to pair with my scarf top idea. I matched the belt to the green in the scarf and kept my footwear neutral like the skirt.

The over-the-shoulder drape is for those moments when you want to channel a little drama into your scarf top ideas.
It’s like a one-shoulder top but made from your scarf.
How to fold it:
Which scarf to use: To get enough material to carry the scarf over your shoulder, you need a scarf that is larger than your circumference. I chose a woven, rectangle scarf instead of a silky one so it would stay in place better, but I’m sure you could use a silky one too.
Insider tip: This scarf has been worn as a top before. Here is the outfit and here is the video.
Since the inspiration’s skirt almost looked like wide-leg pants at first glance, I mimicked this outfit by wearing a pair of flowy pants. I did wear a belt, but I carried the dominant color of the scarf down to my footwear.
Yes, I know the scarf’s label is poking up at the shoulder, but as always, this is real life.

Scarves are one of those timeless accessories that can instantly elevate any outfit. Whether it’s draped, tied, or knotted, this versatile piece can add flair and style to your wardrobe in countless ways.
Don’t get overwhelmed with the fact that there are infinite ways to wear your scarf, just have fun with it.
Insider tip: If you struggle with these scarf top ideas and just want to throw your scarf around your neck, that’s fabulous. You can also use a scarf clip to keep it in place (and don’t forget this clip works on t-shirts and other items too).
Additionally, scarves are incredibly versatile, which is one reason I ALWAYS include them in my packing for vacations.
Insider tip: But don’t limit yourself to only trying these scarf top ideas with only a white t-shirt. Experiment with other colors and remember when it’s colder a long-sleeved t-shirt or turtleneck would be just as amazing.
