Quality Cures For Nasal Issues In Menopause

If you follow along on my personal shares in my emails, then you know that I’d been plagued with nasal issues in Menopause.
And with the amount of emails I received from other women, I feel that it’s more common than we realize.

Quote of the day: “Losers visualize the penalties of failure. Winners visualize the rewards of success.” Anonymous

Many of the issues that happen to our bodies are dismissed because we are getting older. While I realize that our cells don’t heal as fast as they used to, I still realize that many bodily functions can be helped with the right factors.

Even though much of my site is dedicated to fashion, the idea of looking good spreads out to taking care of ourselves also. It’s the reason I share many articles and information about health, nutrition, and Exercise in my emails. I also included some here on Jodie’s Touch of Style.

In fact, here are some recent health articles I have written.

You should definitely sign up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

My History of Nasal Issues in Menopause

For me, it all started when I retired which was when I was in perimenopause. I started to have a runny nose more often and a “glob” that blew out of my left nostril only.

Truthfully, I felt like I was becoming my grandmother having to carry around tissues everywhere I went. My grandma used to tuck a tissue up the elastic of the sleeve of her dress. And I didn’t want that for my future.

As a biology person, I knew this nasal issue was not normal, and I was determined to figure out a cure.

What I Tried to Fix These Issues

  • Accupuncture-This didn’t work but part of that could be because we thought my nasal problems were due to being home around my cats more. So my acupuncturist treated me for cat saliva and dander.
  • Naturopath– He had me try a multitude of “remedies” to clear up my sinus issues. None of them helped.
  • Functional Medicine Provider-She cleaned up my Diet even more than it already was, but this didn’t help my nasal issues.
  • Balloon Sinuplasty-I did 6 treatments of this procedure and they did nothing for me.

Insider tip: Around this time I did NOT realize that my nasal issues had to do with menopause. I just figured they were because because.

Then, I happened onto this doctor’s video titled Can Menopause Cause Sinus Problems?
It was an aha moment for me. Because if you’ve been around a while, then you know that I have struggled with vaginal dryness.
So, of course, it makes sense that my nasal cavity would dry out with menopause too.

Sea Buckthorn Oil

One of the products mentioned in the doctor’s YouTube video about nasal issues in menopause was Sea Buckthorn Oil.

There were also a couple of sprays, but I decided to try the supplement.

Once I started taking 2-3 softgels every morning, my “glob” and sinus issues went away. It was truly like magic.

Insider tip: There were times I would take 4 softgels for a week as my husband and I muscle test our supplements weekly.
There are many ways to muscle test and we use the finger method.
It sounds very woohoo, but biologically everything on this earth has energy, so it makes sense that our unique body energy might like/dislike other energies.

I was ecstatic that I figured out how to clear up my nasal issues and I tried to spread the word to help other women.

For instance, not everyone will have a “glob” as I do, but in my opinion, many coughs, clearing the throat, and tickles in the back of the throat are due to sinus drainage which is not normal.

Currently

Of course, everything changes, right?

All of a sudden about 2 months ago, I started having the “glob” return. Just as this happened, I read Wardrobe Oxygen’s article about itchy ears during menopause.
It was funny because all of a sudden my ears were itching more too. Her cure was Sea Buckthorn oil but a different brand. Which made me think maybe I needed to change brands.

One of my theories is that the Sea Buckthorn Oil supplements I was using could be affected when they ship due to our incredibly hot weather.

Insider tip: Think of all of the products that sit in a hot, hot truck and are shipped thousands of miles to get to you or to a store. It makes me wonder if the ingredients aren’t affected due to these temperatures.

That’s when I started on the other Sea Buckthorn Oil supplements pictured above because they were freeze-dried.
BTW, I also tried the Sea Buckthorn Oil itself, and it tasted awful. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Insider tip: We try not to buy as many supplements from Amazon anymore. iHerb is our first choice.

The other thing I have been using is this BeeKeeper’s Immune Throat Spray. We bought it for our travels last fall, and I figured it couldn’t hurt.

NoMore Red Light Therapy

About 6 months ago, I saw an ad for this nasal red light therapy. Knowing my history with nasal issues in menopause, and finding it very budget-oriented, I bought one.
I know it’s marketed for colds, but I figured nasal is nasal.

Make fun of me all you want, but red light Therapy has been proven to help in so many things, that I figured it couldn’t hurt.

I didn’t use it much when I first got it, but I have now been using it daily for the past 2 weeks for 20 minutes a day, and my glob is gone again.

Whether it’s the red light, throat spray, or the freeze-dried supplements, I have no idea, but I’m just so glad it’s not an issue again.

If it returns, I may also try a nasal spray.
