Daily Looks: Week Ending 5.3.24
The month of May. For many, it means graduations, weddings, and of course Mother’s Day. This week was a warm one in our part of the country and yet it’s ideal because the mornings are still cool. I take my photos after we come back from walking the dog and before breakfast, so many times any layers you see in the photos get thrown off by noontime.
If you sign up for the emails below you’ll get a load of positivity to your day. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
The dress and jacket are from our thrifting outing when Mireille was here visiting. I’ve been on a lime green kick lately, so this dress caught my attention.
It looks like it was originally strapless, and someone added white elastic straps. I decided to continue that look with this strappy bralette.
And the jean jacket. I know I need another jean jacket like I need a hole in my head, but I love this shorter style, and it was under $5.
Keeping with my bold and fun thinking when getting dressed, I wore green crochet mules (with these socks) and a fabric flower on the pocket of the jacket.
Large statement earrings (that I painted so they wouldn’t blend into my hair color) and my yellow-green glasses completed the look.
Sunday
The Clothes Mentor near us is going out of business, so my mom and I stopped by to see what deals we could score. She talked me into this dress for $5. Even though it is bigger than my normal size, we thought it was cute.
I replaced the self-belt with this red one that I thrifted recently (I had to add an extra hole in the belt with this handy dandy tool my mom owns).
Then I wore these whimsical mules, a knockoff of the more expensive ones called Soludos. I added my Sole Insoles for arch support and was good to go.
I accessorized with red print items but kept it relatively simple.
After a couple of hours, I called this a failure. The red on the back of the buckle rubbed off on the white dress. The dress is just too big, so I’m going to alter the sides. And my Sole Insoles wouldn’t stay put in the espadrilles.
UGH.
Monday
We were supposed to have dog training this morning which is why I have on pants. Our class got canceled, but I decided to stick with the outfit I had planned.
I have to admit that when I first bought these pants, I wasn’t too sure about them. The wide-leg silhouette was so different. Yet now that I see these types of pants on all the young girls, there is a lot of inspiration for how to style them.
These menswear vests are my latest love. Although, I’ve had this brown tweed one for over 20 years when my mom first made it for me.
I wore it alone with a bralette under it. The color combination isn’t my usual, but I love how the sandals tie it all together.
The shoulder-scraping earrings are fantastic too. Thanks to my friend, Judy, who made them for me.
Tuesday
I’ve had this dress for ages. It was one of those impulse buys in Target over 5 years ago. I think the green color works so well with many different colors.
For the chill of the morning, I added this oversized cardigan wonderfully gifted to me by my friend, Sonya.
Even though the cardigan is shades of orange including peach, I thought the pink shoes worked fabulously.
Remember these peep-toe shoes from ages ago? I created 5 vibes with them after I bought them for $5.
My tassel earrings are multicolored and I wore orange glasses to give the outfit more sass.
Wednesday
Today’s look includes many older items. I had these pants when we were living in Denver (proof here) and considering they are wide-leg cropped, they are very much on trend now. Even though they are dark colored, they are much better suited for warm weather because they are a thinner material.
In fact, they are fabulous pants to wear for pedicures (not that I’m getting a pedicure today). Then I paired them with a chambray top that I found thrifting years ago.
The light blue under the opening of the top is my Ruby Ribbon bra. It’s nice to have colorful options that act as camis. You can see it better in the top, up-close photo.
The black sandals are a pair of Ros (formerly Walking Cradles) I wore in Puerto Rico (see my dinner time looks).
This style of sandal is not available this season yet this one is similar.
Then I added neon accents with my belt, bracelet, and earrings.
Thursday
Today was Tai Chi and then we wanted to head to Goodwill afterwards. That meant having a cute “errand” outfit.
This tunic/coverup/top (whatever you want to call it) was a perfect topper for my leggings and t-shirt. I bought mine at the store Just Be Youtiful, but it’s on her website now and you can get a discount with code Jtouch15.
When I’ve worn it in the past, I wrapped the ties around to close the front more (like the brown version on the website). It comes in 7 different colors and next time I may try to tuck up the front like is shown on the white version.
My t-shirt says “Tell your dog I said hi” which cracks me up. This brand has a ton of humorous t-shirts for women, men, and maternity alike.
Pink is my accent color with these Cariuma sneakers, pink earrings, and a pink ring.
Friday
In one of my emails this week, I said I would wear the overalls I had cut off into shorts from this article.
I think I’ll wear them more this way, and I love they casualize any top.
For instance, if you get my emails, then you saw this top from the back. Rob called it “risque” and because of the openness, I wore my Gatherall bra that I discussed in another email this week.
I wore one of my long skinny scarves as a belt and decorated the look with pink accessories.
The green crochet mules finished off the look.
When I look back at earlier in the week, this is the same color scheme as Saturday only I added pink accents. Funny how some weeks that happens, unintentionally.
