The reality is that how we show up today, the tiny decisions we make are creating our future selves. When quarantine hit, Alison lost her business and had to consider what to do next. Her lesson was when things change in an instant, you sometimes need the courage to leap. Her best advice when starting something new? Embrace a beginner’s mindset and utilize your past successes and skills to move forward. We have a lifetime of experiences that give us proof of our ability to learn and do new things so remind yourself that you can learn. You have the ability to figure things out as you go. While fear is very real to us, we get to decide what it means for us and take our power back. She encourages listeners that it will take practice since it may have been a while since we’ve tried something new or different. But stay curious, ask good questions, be open to discomfort and change. Doing hard things is a choice that we get to make but we decide how to define it. The key is to shift the way we think about it. A great question to help is, ‘What can I think or do in this moment that will make things a little easier for me?’ Make up your mind that you will gather the information you need then make a decision and take action.
