🎥 TRANSCRIPT

When designing the original iPhone, Steve Jobs insisted that the calculator app have a realistic button design.

During a demo of the app, Jobs noticed the numbers typed into the calculator were slightly off-center, making the app look very unpolished. He demanded the designers fix it, but they argued that it was a small detail no one would notice.

Jobs argued that if you don’t care about the small details, you don’t care about the big picture.

His attention to detail and obsession with a simple design built a great user experience. This concept is often associated with Technology at large, but the truth is – every type of business should be thoughtful about their customer’s user experience, including how financial advisors design your investment portfolio.

Hi, I’m Lena Armuth, the Real People Advisor at Sensible Portfolios. And I’m here to teach real people like you, how to avoid overpaying for financial advice.

Today’s investors want simple solutions, yet most investment portfolios are confusing and overly complex. As investors, we need investment solutions that are easy to understand.

If simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, then why have 5, 6, 7, or more – 15 investment products in your portfolio when one or two can generate the same return?

With fewer mutual funds, you can better understand what you’re invested in, which makes managing your emotions during market swings much easier. This is exactly why portfolio design is so critical to your long-term success.

If you’re watching this, and you’re feeling uncertain about what’s in your investment portfolio, then it’s very likely that your financial advisor is overcharging you. This isn’t uncommon.

Advisors, who charge high management fees, often make your investments more complicated than necessary to make them appear as if there’s more value. It’s all about the optics!

They add a lot of unnecessary investments to your portfolio, to make it seem like they’re doing something of value, and can justify their high fee.

Don’t fall into this trap!

Be like Steve Jobs. Have a simple yet sophisticated investment portfolio that’s designed to provide a better investment experience.

If you want to achieve your financial goals without overpaying for advice, then you don’t want to miss out on future videos like this.
