Bethany Hickman is a professional singer and voice teacher and is best known for her YouTube channel, The Vocalyst with over 93 thousand subscribers. Bethany began her vocal training as a classical singer, earning degrees in both Vocal Performance and Opera Performance, and later attending Boston University’s Opera Institute. She performed as a professional soloist and chorister but soon turned her attention to teaching.
Having only been trained to sing classical music, Bethany studied contemporary pedagogy and later incorporated those same principles into her own vocal training. By understanding the needs of both contemporary and classical artists, Bethany was able to develop an instructional method that could help classically-trained singers embrace a contemporary technique. Today, in addition to her private teaching studio and masterclass work, Bethany talks about vocal technique on her YouTube channel, The Vocalyst. Her goal is to help others better understand their own voices and also appreciate the work of great artists from around the world.
