Leopard print is one of those patterns that never really goes out of style. Sure, we tend to see it more in the fall and winter with “what’s trending”, but I believe it is one of those prints that will survive.
It’s one reason why I wanted to showcase how to wear a leopard print skirt.
Quote of the day, “Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.” Seneca
I found a couple of photos in my stash wearing the same skirt and figured it could be a great example of how to wear a leopard print skirt.
Then, since these examples were from the warmer weather, I also found a different skirt outfit for the colder weather.
Because style isn’t about age, seasons, or rules. It’s about curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to try something new.
This isn’t my first foray into talking about leopard. We have discussed it in these articles:
–Unexpected colors with leopard pants
–More ideas for wearing leopard in the summer
–Leopard print pants outfits
I believe that leopard to be:
The key to learning how to wear a leopard print skirt is not overthinking it. Instead of being worried about whether it’s too much, let’s flip the narrative and be confident instead.
I’ll start my showcase showing how I wore a leopard print skirt for summer with 3 different color combinations.

Lime green is one of those colors that can be a surprise for people.
I’ve shown 15 color combinations with it in the past. Seriously. 15!! And of course, there are more because I didn’t include leopard, but another brown print is shown.
When you pair an unexpected color with a print, you instantly modernize the outfit. It changes it from the matchy-matchy vibe of our grandmas, and instead, it brings energy to the look.
BTW, I’ve styled this top 6 different ways, from edgy to classic.
Style tip: If a bold color feels scary, try it in small doses first. For instance, with your jewelry as an accent color.
Details:
-Brooch at the “v” part of the neckline to add sparkle without the weight of a necklace.
-The sandals are a bright yellow, which I consider a variation of lime green, even though they don’t match.

If lime green feels too much of a leap, this next option is for you.
An ivory or white top paired with a leopard print skirt is timeless. It’s a combination of neutrals that feels safe to everyone.
In this outfit, I chose a casual ivory tee featuring a 3-D heart graphic and paired it with orange accents.
This is a great example of how to wear a leopard print skirt if you’re first starting to experiment with the pattern.
Style tip: Texture matters. If your top is neutral, look for interest through lace, embellishment, or fabric detail.
Details:
-When you are introducing a shoe color that isn’t in the outfit, it could feel more intentional to copy that color in your accessories. That’s what I did with my orange sandals, earrings, and bracelet.

For this idea of how to wear a leopard print skirt, I styled a blush pink vest with it.
If leopard print seems a bit wild (pun intended), then blush pink might calm it down. It’s a feminine color that often appears neutral, as it can resemble beige.
Style tip: Some leopard prints have a warm undertone, while others have a cool undertone. Sometimes it feels more intentional if you combine 2 colors with the same undertones. But it’s not a rule…just a suggestion.
Details:
-For this outfit, I used turquoise as my accent color with my sandals, glasses, and jewelry.
-The round buttons mimic the leopard print of the skirt.

Yes, my example for how to style a leopard skirt in winter is with a darker version of the animal print, but I believe I could also create an option with the lighter print skirt.
BTW, I wore this same skirt with another pair of tights and a different color combination on Monday of this Daily Outfit post.
The easy changes for colder temps are:
Even though this darker leopard skirt is a combination of greys and blacks, there’s no reason not to add other colors to the mix.
For me, this time, it was pink.
Details:
-Again, I added a non-matching color with my mint green earrings. My earrings were the ONLY piece of this accent color.
-Notice the pearl lined sheer socks peeking out of the brogues.
If there’s one takeaway I hope you get from this post, it’s that leopard print shouldn’t be considered a trendy piece. Let’s think about it as a style tool instead.
A tool that showcases your personality, be it classic, fun, or ready for new adventures.
So if you have a leopard skirt but haven’t worn it recently, consider this your sign to pull it out and style it.
Try one new color combination.
Add tights when it’s cold.
And most importantly…have fun with it.
Fashion should never feel limiting because we are the boss of our clothes.
I found the light leopard skirt while thrifting, and the darker tulle one at Just Be Youtiful. Here are a couple of other options if you are interested.
