There are monsters living among us. Unlike the fictional monsters with their grotesque appearance, these have a human face. They dwell not in the shadows, but in plain sight. Rather than fearing the sun, they bathe in spotlight. They are in our government, our churches, our schools and even in our own families. They tear at the very fabric of humanity. And they are insatiable.
There are the monsters on Wall St. These are the billionaires who ignore the suffering of those around them in their never-ending pursuit of more wealth. They devour what they see as smaller beings in their quest to be #1. They trample on the weak and powerless while creating scapegoats to deflect from their relentless pursuit of avarice.
For these monsters, misdirection is key. While they hoard enormous wealth, they use distraction by pointing to the less fortunate and claim it is they who are the monsters. While sitting behind mountains of cash, they will single out an individual or group who, like the fictional Oliver Twist, are looking for a meager morsel of assistance, and claim they are destroying our once great nation.
These monsters recline in their mansions, on their private jets, exclusive clubs and fancy yachts while condemning those living paycheck to paycheck. Rather than helping the homeless, they declare them to be a blight on humanity. Instead of assisting veterans who served our nation proudly, they want to strip them of their dignity by providing them with less and less after they have fulfilled their duty.
There are monsters in our churches. No, I’m not talking about the ones who preyed upon children, though they are indeed monsters themselves. I’m talking about those who speak from the pulpit, spewing hatred and lies. These monsters of hypocrisy cherry-pick Bible verses while feeding their cult an illusion of paradise if only certain individuals were excluded.
Religion is the most insidious form of indoctrination. From the moment we are born we are pummeled with visions of a miraculous afterlife while being threatened with a truly horrible alternative. And it is from their lofty perches, looking down on the huddle masses below them, or some may say beneath them, they declare that the only thing preventing them from achieving this paradise are those do not follow their twisted views.
They assert that theirs is one true faith, and that anyone who disagrees with them, or who looks or even worships differently, is the source of evil. And they claim it is their God-given duty to root out this evil, just as we are a Christian nation with the divine authority to brandish whatever firearms available, even at the expense of our school-aged children.
There are monsters in our government. These monsters take on multiple forms. And many are a hybrid of the other monsters. They are monsters of greed and hypocrisy, but also monsters who have a never-ending craving for power.
Some serve the monsters of hypocrisy. They declare that their distorted adherence to the Bible and the limited views they follow take precedence over their oath to defend the Constitution. In fact, they ignore the very words that prohibit the establishment of one religion in favor of creating a White Christian theocracy.
Some serve the monsters of greed. In order to remain in office, they kowtow to the special interests at the expense of the majority of their own constituents. They enact laws to give their greedy masters more wealth by taking it from the poor. Then they create a distraction like a government shutdown or invading a helpless country to move the issue off the front page.
And while they claim to serve the people, these monsters realistically serve only one deity. No, it’s not an Almighty one, but a monster hiding behind a mask of orange pancake. This monster holds the others accountable with the mighty roar of its social media feed. And this monster is ravenous. It feeds on power and demands complete loyalty. It threatens to destroy anyone who opposes it.
Some monsters wear masks. They hide their true identities as the go about murdering American citizens and terrorizing those who have come to this country in search of a better life. They are reminiscent of the KKK that went about murdering and terrorizing people of color and treated them like inferior beings.
They are led by a monster who wears a mask of Botox and fillers. This monster brags about killing animals with no remorse. While she too answers to the Orange monster, she also lies effortlessly, like him, to advance her reign of terror.
There are monsters in our schools. No, I’m not talking about teachers who abuse children, although they deserve special punishment. I am talking about those non-educators who want to inflict their will upon all students, regardless of their differences. They paint al teachers with the same brush, calling them sexual deviants who want to groom their students to become victims of child abusers.
They declare that teachers are indoctrinating students to hate themselves while they want to force their own religious indoctrination on innocent children by demanding that Biblical lessons be incorporated into the curriculum, that every classroom has a Bible and that the Ten Commandments be posted in every classroom.
They want to dictate what children be allowed to read by creating a list of banned books, much like was done in Nazi Germany. They want these books eliminated even though they haven’t read them but have heard they may contain material to which they object.
Despite their claims that they are protecting children, these monsters are okay with them being slaughtered so long as their “God given rights” to limitless firearms are protected.
Yes, there are indeed monsters among us. While most outwardly maintain a normal appearance, some like to make their presence known wearing the Mark of the Beast as emblazoned on their red hats.
